Just checking, (because it’s not specifically shown on the SLink connection document on the A&H website)
is it possible to connect two AR2412’s into one SLink socket of a SQ5 mixer and have a maximum of 40 inputs 20 outputs and 40 Me send outputs. Available?
(This would keep the card slot free for Waves/Madi/Dante if needed)

I know it is possible to plug each of the AR2412’s separately into the mixer, one into the SLink socket and one into a SLink card and get a total of 48 inputs 24 outputs and 2x 40 ME send outputs. But I may eventually be getting a Waves card.

You can plug an AR2412 into the console, and use an AB168 as expander tp get the 40 inputs.

Ok, thanks to both of you.
So the two AR2412 can’t be dasychained to One SLink port on the SQ5.

Sadly no, as it would exceed the limit of 40 inputs on that protocol.

You could still use two linked AR2412’s together but you will still have the input channel limit.
You can use the outputs in various combinations as needed.

    Hi All,

The way the expanders work in cascade is that the entire second unit is effectively combined with the first – so it’s not on a socket-by-socket basis.
The expander port on an AR2412 can only be connected to an AB168, an AR84 or a ME system. So no, I’m afraid you cannot cascade 2x AR2412’s.

    Thanks,
    Keith.

I stand corrected, I do link my 2412 and 168 fairly often and assumed they would all link!
