Wouldn’t dream of running a digital mixing system without a UPS, they are dirt cheap and buy a ton of security.
Hard drive wise my vote again is for the SSD Small ones are relatively cheap these days and you can always transfer the files to a mass storage drive back at the office. Another consideration is if the recordings are that important you need to be running a backup system as well, so Dante into a Gigabit switch feeding two machines, or better still take the redundant Dante stream to a second machine, though simple switches do seem pretty reliable, also feed power to your switch from the UPS as well.

    Just my five pennyworth.

Had thought about using an UPS, no longer thinking. Also agree with Ian that SSDs are the best option. Went through a couple of USB sticks with mixed results. Ended up using a Seagate 1 TB Backup Plus Slim, $50 from Fry’s Electronics. The Dante card for recording, recording backups and interfaces to other systems is very appealing.
