Trying to add wav files to SD card to playback on CQ18. I want to take multitrack .wav from online and playback to practice mixing on the CQ.

Ive tried renaming, removing tags, converting to 48000 sample rate, making the wav files stereo using reaper. Renaming the files to 01KICK, 02SNARE, 03TOM1, 04TOM2 and it wont play back, however it will play back the .wav files that were recorded using the cq18. But no other .wav files will play.

Follow the printed instructions in the user guide: SD CARD MUST BE FORMATED IN THE CQ DESK BEFORE successful RECORDING CAN OCCCUR! It is highly unlikley that any SD multitrack WAV files that were not generated within a CQ format could ever be available for play back in a CQ desk. Please remember all of the A&H consoles from the entry level CQs up to the D-Live Flagship were designed primarily to be live SR desks, not studio recording systems. They are absolutely fabulous for front end multitrack capture: however post production and two mixing is managed much better with DAW systems that are designed for that particular type of work. IMO the SD card recording protocol is by far the best “capture from live on the fly” option A&H has ever offered, but it does have it’s limitations.

I have 6 carfully prepared stereo BU track selections that I two mixed down from 24 tracks in my Digigrid/Waves LV1 system. I recorded them into my CQ20b SD card @24/96k as a fully panned, two channel stereo mix to the ST #1 inputs. I programed the #1 soft button for start/stop mgt. and the BU tracks work far better than any other system I have deployed over the past 20 years.

    Hi,
    Hugh always helpful…

The files need to be in the exact correct dataformat, on the old website there was a tutorial to create those with Audacity — on the new website I don’t find that information. In short:

48k / 24 Bit WAV with no Meta Data. Cubase can create those files and obviously Audacity too, but that I did not try.

The file names also have to be correct — best to format SD-Card in CQ, then do a short “Test Recording” to see folder and file names.

    Best Regards,
    Tobias
