I am quite Sure that SQ is the Problem…
2024/01/10 at 6:29 pm #118301ShiftertoParticipantMy MacBook Pro will not unzip the firmware update. What do I have to do to update the firmware without unzipping the file.
2024/01/10 at 7:40 pm #118306TobiParticipantYou need a window machine. Format the Stick in SQ, then extract needed files with windows to that stick. If you use Mac, the update will fail.

Tobias2024/01/11 at 1:28 am #118313tourtelotParticipantI have updated my SQ6 more than a few times using a Mac to load the SQ formatted stick and have never had an issue of any sort. Maybe just lucky?

2024/01/11 at 9:53 am #118319KeithJ A&HModeratorHi all,
Please check to see if the issue can be explained by the following article – https://support.allen-heath.com/hc/en-gb/articles/20728166240657-Allen-Heath-website-download-unpacking-in-MacOS
If not, please contact us through support.allen-heath.com as there shouldn’t be any problems with unpacking/copying the firmware update to a drive using macOS so we would obviously like to get to the bottom of what’s going on!Thanks,
Keith.2024/01/11 at 3:17 pm #118328tourtelotParticipantTobi. I never said no one is having issues. I said I was not having issues. That is different than “If you use Mac, the update will fail.”
My statement was factual. Your statement was not.

2024/03/06 at 11:33 am #120053RobParticipantTourtelot,
Would you mind telling us what version of MacOS you are using? I was able to update the firmware before but now in Monterey I can’t read the SQ formatted thumb drive.
Thanks,
Rob2024/03/06 at 5:00 pm #120064tourtelotParticipantI am running OSX 10.15.7, Catalina, on all my 2012 MBPs.

2024/03/07 at 12:15 pm #120085RobParticipantThanks for replying with the details.
It must be the older version of the macOS that is giving you the success. I’m 12.6.3 and can’t read any thumb drive formatted by a SQ sound board. Borrowed a Windows laptop last night and it promptly read the thumb drive. I wonder if this means there is no support for the newer macOS and the SQ boards.
2024/05/25 at 8:23 pm #1223765stringParticipantConfirming previous posts regarding MacOS Sonoma. I had the same problem with SQ-5 firmware update using Sonoma MacBook Pro, after four years without firmware update difficulty. Downloaded the upgrade package to my usual SanDisc thumb drive on an older Mac with earlier OS, upgrade successful. Allen-Heath does have a warning regarding Sonoma compatibility on the download website page.
2024/06/09 at 4:42 pm #122787SandorParticipantI downloaded the firmware update on macOS Catalina unzipped with Terminal copied to a flash drive (formatted on the SQ) and the update was recognized and successfully applied. I tried the same procedure on the lates macOS (14.x.x) and it did not work. This would appear to be an issue with how macOS is unzipping the file. I would be surprised if it were a copying issue, but could be? I guess.
2024/06/24 at 8:20 pm #123397WNP2019ParticipantI too Had the same issue with my SQ6. I tried multiple drives, did everything at least 3 times on each drive. Found a drive thats USB2 and bam. worked immediately. I love AH and SQ but this usb drive is my biggest gripe. if we HAVE to format then at least it should work for any usb drive. Unfortunately its a problem and not just an oddity.
2024/10/27 at 12:44 pm #126887BradRickParticipantSame issue for me: SQ won’t recognize firmware “BIN” file, and I don’t have a computer with older OS to move the files over from. Can Allen Heath provide a downloader application so we can successfully get our firmware files to work?
