What router brand/type do you have connected?

As MikeC alluded to, there is a hard limit on how many devices can be connected to the SQ console at the same time. It is a max of 2 “fully featured apps” (vs apps that only control one buss) and a total of 8 connections at the same time. If you have 1 FOH person running software to control the console, and 7 musicians using SQ4You (or alternatively 8 people using the SQ4You app), then you are at the max. You will not be able to connect a 9th device. Even if the device is able to connect, it means the system will have kicked off one of the other devices which would keep the total connections to the 8 hard count limit.

Last night we experienced the variant of this problem mentioned by Ben’s 2024/05/02 post.

A drummer’s phone was having “Discovery” problems seeing and SQ-5 in the connection menu.

    Scenario:
Two mixers (SQ-5, CQ20-B) were connected to a basic NetGear WiFi router.

The band’s Drummer COULD NOT SEE SQ-5 in the connection menu of his android phone’s SQ4You app.
He was the only performer needing SQ4You. This was his first time connecting to an SQ-5
and the first time using SQ4You. He had downloaded the SQ4You app yesterday.

While debugging, he COULD SEE AND CONNECT to the CQ20-B via CQ4You. This implies that the
connection through the router was not likely the source of the problem.

The only two others connected via WiFi were using SQmixPad. These were
    – First Sound Engineer (Me) via android tablet
    – Second-Sound Engineer via IPAD

While debugging, the two sound engineers WERE ABLE TO CONNECT to the SQ-5 via SQ4You. We each
also walked through the steps with the drummer on his phone. But the SQ-5 connection choice
    was just not showing up.

We tried entering the IP address (from the SQ-5 networking screen) into the Drummer’s
phone’s SQ4You connection screen. This did not connect either.

One issue we had where people couldn’t connect to the mixer was people clicking the wrong permissions during the app installation.

Try clearing the app cache, uninstalling and reinstalling and make sure they allow all permissions that are requested.

Thanks Ben. We’ll take a look at the app on the phone.

100% it’s a security setting on the Apple device. If the user didn’t give the app permission to use the network when it was first installed, then that is your problem.
