I do sound for a children’s theater group. One of the theaters we use just switched from a QU-32 to an SQ5. I was very familiar with the QU-32 and could set up the entire board, with about 80 different scenes, in about 15 minutes. I also learned the QU-32 with someone who also knew it inside and out. I’m not getting that same benefit with the SQ5. I have messaged the theater manager repeatedly to see if I could come in and copy his settings to a USB, then use MixPad to try to set up most of it in advance – but he has been completely non-responsive. I’ve only used one other offline editor, and I discovered the hard way that I should have copied their settings before starting because I completely wiped out all the outputs they had set up when I imported my stuff.

So a couple of questions. First, can I just create scenes with MixPad and import only those without changing anything else they already have programmed on the board? Second, I know with the Qu, I had to format the USB in the Qu for it to work properly. Do I need to do that with the SQ as well, or can I just put my scenes on any USB and bring that in?

I haven’t tried offline editing for an SQ, but I do know that formatting in the desk is always a good idea.
