We just got an Avantis 64 with Dpack. Any chance we will see a Pitch Correction update in the near term? Thanks.
2024/08/29 at 12:50 pm #125108BrianParticipantThe only way we are going to see pitch correction on the Avantis is if A&H brings the RackUltra card to the Avantis. It has the same/similar expansion card slot as the DLive, so it is a real possibility. However, other than saying it is technically possible to do so, A&H has been mum on their intent.
2024/08/29 at 1:32 pm #125109TobiParticipantAnd you are a Professional hard- and/or Software Developer with internal Insights of the avantis Hardware? Or how do you know that ITS capabilities could Not handle Pitch??
2024/08/29 at 1:54 pm #125111jackParticipantThanks. I did see DLive had that update a few months ago… was just curious if that would be possible on the Avantis. Prior we were on a Wing that actually had a decent soft pitch correct feature that we were able to dial in but am trying to figure out if something similar would be on the horizon with Avantis or if we need to do something like Waves superrack.
2024/08/29 at 4:20 pm #125114BrianParticipant@Tobi – no I’m not a developer. I have no insider knowledge and I absolutely could be wrong. But common sense tells me how this is going to play out with A&H. They are not going to spend a lot of time a resources developing a solution for Avantis only. Every Avantis FX so far (stock or DPack) has been a direct descendant of what is already being done on the DLive. My guess is that pitch correction will not be any different.
Only time will tell if I’m correct, but I don’t think I’m going to lose this bet. We can both come back to this thread when/if A&H ever releases a pitch shift solution for Avantis and see who is right.
2024/08/29 at 8:28 pm #125120TobiParticipantI wont come Back here for such discussion… I am Just fighting that Users Stop judging feature suggestions. Its Not our Job to do that, and really Not by assuming stuff we really dont know, even If probability is high. Thats what I am trying to say for some time now.
2024/08/29 at 8:41 pm #125121BrianParticipantYou know what I would like? If people would actually read the comments instead of jumping immediately on the “Let’s stop judging feature suggestions” train.
The OP wasn’t making a feature suggestion. He was asking the likelihood that pitch correction would be added to the Avantis in the short term. I simply gave him an honest assessment of the situation.
2024/08/30 at 1:46 am #125124TobiParticipantPoint for you. Nevertheless your First answer contains unknown assumptions.
Sorry and best Regards,

2024/08/30 at 1:07 pm #125133TobiParticipantTrue, I agree. But I am Not Sure, If we should correct them… Wheather ITS about the time spent with that or If ITS even right…

You write that the Avantis has the same or a similar expansion slot as the D-Live. How do you know that? Have you ever looked inside an Avantis? Is there an unused slot there?
I ordered an Avantis a few weeks ago and hope to have it delivered soon. The desk is really great for my use. I have worked with an SQ so far and was very happy with it. The SQ is surprisingly good for the price. However, I didn’t particularly like the SMR reverb. It’s OK but not premium. I always hoped for an improvement. The Avantis probably uses the same algorithms. When the Rack Ultra FX card came out for the D-Live, I had high hopes of an upgrade for the Avantis in the future. What do you think? Will there be something? Has anyone heard anything?
Whith best reguards…
2024/09/09 at 8:45 pm #125475BrianParticipantRob Clark (Managing Director of A&H) did a video interview about the DLive 2.0 release in which he confirmed that the Avantis has the same expansion slot as the DLive and it could theoretically see a similar upgrade.
As far as any details on the potential upgrade, I have no idea. If I had to speculate, I would say that it is at least a year away because I suspect it would take at least that long for development. But that is a complete guess from a guy who has no development experience, so it’s not worth a lot!
I hope A&H does release a similar update/enhanced FX card for the Avantis. It certainly needs it just as much as the DLive. I just hope they don’t reduce the number of FX racks in the new card. If they released a 4 FX Rack card because of the “half size” of the Avantis, that would be a real let down.
2024/09/09 at 11:36 pm #125477SteffenRParticipantI guess, yes I know, but I do, it will be the same card that fits into the Avantis. But it needs preparation in the firmware. That takes time.
2024/09/10 at 8:47 am #125489SonoveroParticipantThanks Brian, I’ve only seen a little part of the interview so far. Very good to know, then there’s a really good chance of an Avantis update. In my opinion it makes sense and is really necessary to keep up with the competition in this area.
So far I’ve always created my own reverb with the SMR module by combining four reverb effects. One for the first reflections, one for the fullness, one for the long tail (with ducking) and one for the shine (with ducking). I spent many weeks trying it out. The result is really good. However, it’s not easy to quickly adjust the parameters for other applications and it also takes up four FX slots and two groups for ducking.
I’m really curious to see what the new FX engine can do. If it’s as good as advertised, it could be another step for A&H to get ahead of the competition. I’m really glad that A&H keeps succeeding in bringing such innovations to the market. I’ve been using these consoles for many years and have always been a fan of A&H. Of course there are often things that annoy us, things that we have been demanding for a long time and which have long been standard with the competition, but I still feel more at home at an A&H console than at an A&H console. I recently tried a Yamaha DM7 console. The functions are impressive but I still didn’t have a good workflow and I didn’t like it. It’s like Japanese cars, they work fantastically but they have no passion and they’re just not nice to look at.
