More notch filters!
2014/11/03 at 4:31 pm #42659SteffenRParticipant???
What you mean? 4 Bands of parametric EQ per Input or Output is most of the time enough2014/12/12 at 2:11 am #43824Dick ReesParticipantIf you want more filters they should be finer resolution than the current 1/9 octave minimum width. True “notch filters” would be more like the 1/60 octave filters on my GraphiQ’s. As it is, four 1/9 octave filters combined with the HPF is a workable arrangement.
If you absolutely need more filters you can always use creative routing:
channel > mix > hard patch to ST1 or 2 > mains L/R
Do not assign the channels directly to the mains bus for this. You now have the PEQ filters of the ST1/2, the Mix and the channels themselves for upwards of 12 instead of 4.
This ought to take care of you. Me? I’d like narrower filters, please.
2014/12/12 at 6:16 am #43829AnonymousInactiveYes narrower filters please.
And… I did prefer when the outer adjustment ‘width knobs’ went to shelving.
Why did they change that?
I must have missed something there?2014/12/12 at 6:59 am #43830mervakaParticipantPEQ screen soft controls still allow shelving.
2014/12/12 at 7:18 am #43831AnonymousInactiveYes you are correct.
However the rotary knobs (high and low) used to go direct to shelving (at extreme end).
Now its 2 extra clicks (touching the screen and encoder knob) and you have to use the encoder knob. NOT the high and low width control.
It was faster before.
Not quite sure why they changed that?
But I can live with it.
Love my QU32 mixersthanks for you comment.

The functionality was removed from the superstrip to safeguard from an unintentional change in PEQ type. Without being in the processing view, there is no visual feedback to inform the user when the change occurs. Therefore we limited that functionality to the PEQ screen soft controls.

This is complete non sense… it breaks the workflow
I use shelving filters all the time and to change to shelving
should either be possible with the superstrip controls
or a dedicated button in the PEQ screen (iLive, GLD)this said leads to the wish for HP/LP in the PEQ (iLive)
2014/12/13 at 5:10 pm #43879AnonymousInactiveTo me it makes perfect sense.
2014/12/13 at 6:33 pm #43887AnonymousInactiveMakes perfect sense to me – particularly since there isn’t a button on the superstrip – the way it used to work there was a massive step which wasn’t really signalled in any way, the gap between shelved and wide is much much larger than that between wide and wider…
2014/12/13 at 7:01 pm #43891AnonymousInactiveI can live with the way it is now.
Earlier in the year I found myself wanting instant extreme high shelf cut.
And for some rapid play back disc’s needed fast low cut.
But I can live with it.
yes yes yes I know there is a high pass filter. You know… always looking for quicker ways to get less clicks.
This is complete non senseā¦ it breaks the workflow

However I agree with you on that statement.
2014/12/13 at 7:42 pm #43895AnonymousInactiveIt’s a pretty quick operation on the screen, although I’m not sure if you can pinch it all the way out any more?
In terms of low pass of course the HPF is there, doesn’t allow a particularly fine control of the cut level of course.
2014/12/13 at 8:41 pm #43897Dick ReesParticipantI recommend the two-handed “pinch”:
Touch the corner of the screen with the finger of one hand, then use the finger of the other hand to swipe to or fro. Much quicker than the one-hand pinch.
