I am new to Avantis and Dante and have limited networking expertise. I have an Avantis Solo with a 64×64 Dante card connected to a DT168 and a laptop running a Dante virtual sound card routed into Reaper. I have the laptop in the Primary and the stage box in the secondary. The Avantis card is in switched mode, and the internal network bridge is set to ‘on.’ It all works great running and recording live shows. However, I want to start running Avantis Director on the same laptop and a separate wireless device (iPad). I assumed I would run Director over the same ethernet cable as the Dante, but the director can’t see the Avantis. I have tried entering the IP address of the solo into Director, but the connection icon keeps spinning. I have then tried connecting a separate laptop to the Avantis network port via a wireless router. This allows Director to see and connect with the Avantis perfectly. However, it then drops all the Dante connections in the Dante controller software. Surely, there must be a way to run both Dante and Avantis Director simultaneously. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Make sure your Dante network and console’s data network are on different network segments/subnets. Connect the computer to the Dante network like you have been and then either add a second network port (via a USB network dongle) connected to the console’s date port, or connect to the console using the wireless network that you have previously used with the console. By keeping the two networks separate, I think you will find the reliability much higher than trying to combine the traffic.
That being said, if you are trying to combine the Dante network and the console’s data network together, you want to use the same network subnet for all the devices. Is that how you currently have it set up, or have you given the Dante network devices IP addresses in a different network subnet?

i also ran once my amps through the console switch and it worked all together with no issues.

I think the problem was that the wireless switch I was using was also sending IP addresses to my Drive Rack PA2 DSP. I think there was an issue with DHCP, which clashed with the Dante IP addresses. Anyway, it all works now, so thank you.
