Hello,
I work with a R72 and a iDR-16, recording everything multitrack through the madi card. We plan to add a xDR to have more inputs, but can wew still record the 32 channels via madi? How the xDR communicates with the iDR?Thank You

Adam is correct here. To add a bit more detail, the 64 outputs on the MADI card will still be available to you once you have moved it to the xDR-16 Port B, but 8 of these outputs will be shared with the 8 output sockets on the xDR. The software allows you to choose where this overlap is, so in your case where you would like to record 32 channels, you could set the xDR-16 output sockets to overlap with MADI channels 33-40, which you would not be using.
As for inputs from the card, you will be able to use the first 16 inputs from the MADI card when it is moved to the xDR-16.Cheers

Just another question, you said I will be able to use the 16 first channelsmon the madi card, just this apply to virtual soundcheck too? I want to record the 32 channles and bring them back.2011/07/29 at 9:48 am #28905ahjeffModeratorHi Airton
As you can connect two xDR-16s, each with 16 input sockets, and the Mixrack Port B can accept up to 64 inputs, this leaves only 32 ‘spare’ channels coming into Mixrack Port B. In the current firmware, these are allocated as 16 from Port B of Expander 1, and 16 from Port B of Expander 2. So you will only be able to use the first 16 input channels from a MADI card in Port B an Expander.

2011/07/29 at 2:04 pm #28906AnonymousInactiveDo you think getting an idr-16 would be better for me than the xdr?
Or even better, a idr-32?
2011/08/02 at 12:16 am #28920AnonymousInactiveI´ll get a idr-32, it´s easier. Hey, can I record the local inputs at the surface too?

Yes, you can record any input or mix, as well as a few other types of signal. It doesn’t matter where those signals are physically. You can have a go and see exactly what can be routed to Port B using the IO patch window in the iLive Editor software.
Hope this helps.
Cheers
