Second gig with the CQ20B last night.

First went great, recorded multitrack to SD. Same with one rehearsal. Able to record and playback from the CQ, and also transfer the files via SD to my Mac.

But last night, recorded several hours of footage and the card showed up empty on my mac, but with much of the disk space consumed (11GB left from 32GB).

I put the card back in the CQ, and saw the files there…

so i then put the card back in my Mac, and now it says 32G free. And now if i put the card back in the mixer it says 32GB free now. Seems like everything is now gone.

Im using a sandisk ultra U1/class10 120MB/s card. And this card worked for the last gig.

    Any ideas??

Not cq related, but it happened to me when some app was probably still reading/writing the card and that somehow upset something there. It happened a few times when putting backing tracks on my card, my backup card and USB stick (never too many backups)… It showed fine on pc, but on mixer (Line6 M20d) it couldn’t read the card at all, put it back to pc, appears empty. Other card and stick were fine, which is why I always carry all 3 with me, in case of errors.

I had a somewhat similar thing happen with USB. I still can’t figure out what happened.

I tested recording to USB stick at home (48k, stereo). Worked fine. Heard the final product on computer. Worked 100%.

Then at the gig (I’m playing and running sound) I start up recording just before the set starts. Everything looked fine; I saw it recording. It said 2 hours left of recording space on my USB. Then at the end of an hour set, I look at the console. It had somehow stopped recording! It’s hard to tell what happened because I was playing the show.

I get home put the USB in my computer and it shows these corrupted files. (See attachment).

I test record to USB again at home and it worked fine. This has happened to me twice. I’ve reformatted the USB stick. I’d really like to figure out what is going on. Otherwise I love the CQ! I’ll try again sometime with an SD card and see if it’s different. If anyone has any tips or hunches I’d appreciate it!

    This is frustrating.

Second gig with it last night. Bought two Sandisk extreme in case it was something with my cards used last time.

I used one for the first set and another for the second. One didn’t record anything. The other did, but the audio skips when I play it back.

Recording just doesn’t work for me and that’s a deal breaker.

It’s most likely a USB stick incompatibility issue.
A compatibility database was created in the QU forum because of variable recording results.
Some USB sticks would seem to work but suffer from buffer overflow and stop mid recording. I had a few expensive and fast sticks that wouldn’t even be recognised whereas cheaper “slower” ones were fine.
Probably need to set up the same for the CQ.
As muted earlier by A&H, the SD card format is much more reliable and faster medium for recording.

I’m using an SD card not a stick. I’ve tried two types and both have had issues.

Support is very slow to respond and. It very helpful so far to be honest.

    Apologies!
That reply relevant to the post from @morrisar
