    Hi,

I’m also relatively new to mixing ( 2 years ) but don’t make the mistake I did, I bought a QU-24, relatively good mics ( Shure SM58s ) albeit dynamic mics, and cheap powered speakers with one speaker with an amp, powering the other passive speaker

The most critical components in any mixing/recording setup is the interfaces between electronics and sound. i.e. Mics and Speakers. I recently purchased a couple of JBL 308’s. Over three times the price of my originals and with am amp in each speaker. Our sound went from amateur to professional in an instant. I’m now saving up for a top end condenser mic, again 3or 4 times the price of the SM58’s. But I know it will be worth every penny. Good luck.

P.S. I’ll use the condenser mic for recording my guitar since, even top quality acoustic guitar pickups ( i.e. L R Baggs ) and DI Boxes do no credit to your guitar sound.

    Hi,

I’m not actual sure I understand your question. If you want a delay to be triggered by 2 channels simply use mix->return and select a mix as an input. Just lift the faders on the selected mix master corresponding to the 2 channels you want to kick off the delay.

In my experience with my QU-24, A&H have pretty well thought of every possible scenario of FX Setup, so I would be very surprised if need to go off-board for a FX.

    Thanks Steffan,

Yes, I understand the dynamic nature of this subject.

I’d be very interested, now that you’ve brought the subject up, in how to utilise a foot pedal with my Qu-24. I understand from AaH that it will need to be a MIDI pedal but working over TCP/IP. Do you know of any such device?

    Hi Seffan R,

Ian trying to play the delays, but when you don’t know what parameters to set and how much, that is the challenge I am trying to overcome.

Sorry, I gave the impression that Hank used Boss delays. No, I came across a YouTube clip from a guy that had already worked out the settings but on Boss Delay ( here’s the link https://youtu.be/KJKvI4kP0bQ ). No Hank mainly used tape delay outboard rack delays, now either obsolete or very expensive vintage effect devices.

I am getting very close on the Qu-24. It took me sometime to realise how critical the parameter settings were. The nearest setting can be achieved, but a 1% turn of the control can slip you out of the window. This is mainly to do with FX return setting, but feedback and duration are both pretty critical.

I’m still not quite there yet, but I’m wondering if anybody has actually attempted the effects on a Qu series mixer?
