Typically when I fire up Nuendo or Reaper it recognizes my Tascam FW-1884 installed as an ASIO device.
I see all inputs and outputs and rout accordingly.
And control is via Mackie Control Protocol
    1. Does the new 1.9 software and the Qu series for Windows work this way?
    2. Can you configure a custom layer to be the playback/mix layer (as done on a Yamaha DM-2000)

    Ah yes

Great for Virtual sound check! Not so good for switching between Inputs and USB while recording.

    2. Can you configure a custom layer to be the playback/mix layer (as done on a Yamaha DM-2000 which was actually 96 in and 96 virtual)

The USB source can be rapidly switched to local/dSnake on the routing page.

But the QU can’t magic up extra channels from nowhere.
