I had the exactly same negative surprise. So I asked for the function to freely assign return channels here: https://community.allen-heath.com/forums/topic/allow-qu-drive-playback-routing
Until this is implemented I’m using my PC with Reaper. But this is of course not as easy as a USB channel assignment would be 🙁
2016/03/25 at 10:30 pm #54765I created a first wiki page with some of the topics here and created the first issues for missing features. Feel free to add commentts to the issues or other issues if there are some missing features.
I’m also new to Github in the role of project owner so I just try to do my best 😉
2016/03/22 at 6:05 pm #54707HI guys
I just ordered the components to finally build my own foot switch. I just wait for Raspi3 to arrive. I also plan to implement some new features and make it configurable.@Doc: I took the freedom an created a Github project using your source (https://github.com/chriszuercher/quPy). Hope this is OK. If not let me know. I will add my changes there as I think it is an easy why to contribute to a project.
I keep you updated on my progress. And of course I invite everyboy to contribute to the Github project (as long as it is ok for Doc).
2016/01/13 at 9:30 am #53268Thanks Harry
Is my request also part of the planning? Goes into the same direction and would be really good to have.2016/01/10 at 5:48 pm #53200Any news on this?
2015/12/01 at 6:17 pm #52416The current one already works for me on Win10 64Biz. But an update to improve detection of the QU would be good. Now you need to take care to turn on the pc and qu in the correct order or just plugin the usb cable after starting Win.
@nicola is there a plan for a Windows Mackie control driver as on Mac? Would be perfect.
2015/11/16 at 2:16 pm #52143Any news here? Betatester needed? I’m looking forward for the Android app 😉
2015/10/28 at 11:23 am #51738Agree, fewer than 18 channels for record/playback would also be useful (but only together with the changed source / destination routing).
2015/10/19 at 4:48 pm #51463At least I was not wrong 😉 Yes I could use the libraries for this. But I think the source mapping should still be possible. Otherwise it makes little sense to select which channels to record if there is no way to replay them to the same channels. I will place a feature request for this.
Cheers
2015/10/19 at 4:44 pm #51461I agree with [XAP]Bob. I also faced the situation where an easy “restore scene 1 on startup” would be very nice. You csn set this as a softbutton but this already needs some training.
2015/09/08 at 11:11 am #50322Or just ask me as I wrote the answer in the Edimax topic ;-). Yes, just plug a cable to the AR Monitor port and then to any of the Edimax ports. Each ME1 to another switch port and everything runs fine. We use it for 4 ME1s without trouble.
The Edimax has an internal power supply and (in my case) rack mounts for 19″ cases. It is also passive cooled (no noise). And I’m not working for them 😉
2015/08/26 at 11:46 am #50053I’m using QU-24 and Windows 10 with Reaper. No problems so far. Also copy multitrack files to and from USB memory works.
2015/07/07 at 12:15 pm #49143This is great. If I find some time I will definitely try it. Thank you for sharing this. You could put you code on Github or another collaboration platform so if somebody wants to improve something in your code it could be handled easier.
2015/06/25 at 8:24 pm #48957Yes I’m using the transcent jetflash 710S 64GB without any problems. Until now I recorded multiple Sessions arround 1.5h each in multitrack mode. Loading of the sessions takes really long but maybe this is a general Qu thing (I newer used other USB sticks)
2015/06/25 at 9:25 am #48947I don’t have an recommendations for you. But we as a band are using Qu-24 the same way. During band practice we record using QU-Drive or a PC. The reason we decided towards the QU instead of others is that we can use QU as console for concerts in places without console (or with bad ones, broken or whatever you find in small clubs) and as recording console. So we only have one console which works good for recording (even if it is not mainly made for this) but even better as live console.
We also never had problems with sample rate as you can just down sample to the rate you need as a last step in you workflow. So if you consider using QU not only for recording it is a good tool, for recording only there might be betters
