FWIW usb A definitely carries power – I power a little TP Link AC750 wireless travel router from it + a little fly lead to the network port. Never had any issues tho’ admittedly this is for remote to an iPad in a studio NOT tried live is any venue.
I have tried demos of Reaper, Protools, Reason and Digital Performer and QU and Mackie Control seems to work with all of them i.e.: port settings survive a restart (a restart is not necessary to kill port settings in logic, just restarting A&H’s DAW control will do it). According to other sites Cubase has similar issues to Logic but I couldn’t confirm.
I have also tried a clean install of macOS and Logic Pro 10.3.1 but no difference. The hope was that “Logic now supports the Audio Unit v3 specification for virtual MIDI ports” might make a difference somehow.
I have tried both deleting and locking the various .plist and .cs files. I have tried renaming and reordering the mapping in Qu-32_MackieControl.ahmap (by the way A&H is the DAW control supposed to map all the QU’s to this file?) – nothing seems to work.
I think A&H are on a hiding to nothing here, who knows what Apple have done, the bug could be in Logic or the os and could be something as simple as incorrectly parsing a string from one of the property files.
I have a similar problem with Logic Pro and qu-24. Shut down Logic, Turn off MacBook and on restart, Logic’s Mackie port settings are all set to “DAW Control MIDI 4” (which on a QU-24 doesn’t exist) however close down logic and put MacBook to sleep and on wake up Mackie settings are fine, everything works. Interestingly enough I found that when experimenting with the Protools demo, QU settings all behave as expected ie: survive sleep AND restart. I suspect there may be a bug in the way the Mackie driver writes settings to the relevant .pst file maybe??
Any help out there?
cheers
Hello – was there any resolution to this? Same thing happened with Logic Pro. Qu-24/Mackie control works fine until the Mac is restarted – then all “Mackie control midi device”s in control surface setup get reset to “Mackie control midi device 4”. I’m hoping I’ve missed something really stupid? or permissions set wrong on the relevant .plist files?
sorry for the zombie…
