After more than a year I have just mixed the first musicals again and occasionally it happened to me that I ended up in the wrong mix. That still seems like a real challenge with this otherwise great desk. The desired “latching” option for the mix buttons would really help and a more noticeable visualization would make sense. Personally, I wouldn’t prefer even more flashing buttons (mute and tap tempo buttons flash enough), but inverted scribble strip colors or a modified main display would be good. Perhaps it would also be helpful if non-functioning faders of a layer (e.g. FX sends, MTX, group to group, …) were switched off in the aux mix (black strip display, faders on the bottom). What do you think of that?

    Hi Sean!
When you are really mixing line by line, reading your script, you should use the DCAs – although labels safe is still an issue and you have to live with “DCA1”. I mixed a children musical last week an faced the same decision. I preferred groups in this case, because of lacking rehearsals and a lot of improvisation. So it was not line by line mixing but scene by scene with an ensemble and a vocals group I assigned my channels to. With about 40 scenes this is ok to program. This way it was easy to add processing and effects to the groups instead of each single channel. Be aware that mute groups are unfortunately in the same safe category as DCAs, so you can not use them to put your effects on/off by scene. You have to use the faders (or channel mutes) instead.

    Hey volounteer !

Thanks for the advice, but clicking the forum tab first has no effect.
I like the google search idea, but could not get it to work precisely. The term »”HPF” SITE:https://community.allen-heath.com/forums/forum/dlive« gives back SQ and GLD forum threads as well. Am I missing some quotation marks?

I would like ‘inverted’ channel-strips when not on L/R-mix. That means green font on black background instead of black font on green. But I’m not sure if this would be possible by hardware.

+1 for both suggestions, it’s nearly usable at the moment.

+1 for DYN8 (at least 16 stereo instances). Although I would pay for it in the plugin-shop …

+1 for at least switchable HPF/LPF instead of LF/HF-PEQ

@SDCyclist: Thanks for your reply – I hope I will be able to learn someday, but neither on Yamaha, nor on Soundcraft consoles do I have this problem so often. I can not imagine why, yet. For me the inverted channel strip color would be helpful, I think.

For any reason there is no button under the PAFL-LED to press, but you can assign the “PAFL clear” function to every user key in the setup menu. Unfortunately the nearby “Talk”-button is no user key, so you can’t use it for that function. Maybe something to change in future software updates.

and for the friends of user-colors you could add more colors like orange, purple and darker green to the keyboard

I would like more special characters (ä,ö,ü,ß) a well. There would be space in the numbers section + caps lock.

You can also assign your vocals via a second (post-fade) mix/group to the main mix and mute this group instead of the single channels. So the monitor-mix is not affected.
Using direct-outs you have the desired options. But you have to patch all direct-outs to your monitor-mix out, is that possible?
