I tried exactly that yesterday, so the card must be faulty. Will doublecheck monday morning.

Please note, that even when i removed the external switch entirely, and just plugged in my laptop directly to the waves card, with nothing else connected, it did not work either. But maybe the problem here, is that there is no unit to hand out DHCP addresses? That should be the most basic thing to do, but the M-waves card was not found in the soundgrid driver.

This card is behaving quite strange. I tried connecting it to the same switch as the network port from the mixrack, as i did with my previous dante card. A router is connected to the switch, to handle DHCP for connected laptops etc. This does not work. My mac doesn’t find the card. But it does find the sound grid server, EVEN when the mac is connected directly to the M-waves card, it still doesn’t recognize the card in the soundgrid driver software (!). So to be specific: Everything is joined ind the switch, Mixrack network port, M-waves Soundgrid port, Soundgrid server, and Router to handle DHCP. I then connect the laptop, and thought i should be able to record, control the server, and run editor at the same time. What am i missing?! I could see the sound grid server, but not the M-waves card in my sound grid inventory. VERY weird.

After some reboots and connecting sound grid port 1 directly to the mixrack network ports, and not to the switch (still connected to the switch, though through the mixrack switch and from there to the shared switch mentioned above), i was able to find the M-waves card on my mac. How can this be?! The documentation of these network curiosities is lacking to say the least.

    Regards, Tor

Yeah, there really cannot be any discussion as to wether this app is stabile or not. Everyone else’s iPad app works LOT better, yamaha, soundcraft, midas, presonus. And they’re all free?!? I have the recommended router, with the recommended settings, and paid 100$ for this app. It’s a joke to be quite honest.

An since i played with the GLD i realized just how sluggish the iLive range really is. Surface freezes when you’re logging on with the editor, occasional inexplainable hangs etc etc. This is not a faulty setup, it is just plain underpowered DSP or bad programming. Sorry, but the desks sound so great, and they are so versatile, but this whole thing with the editor and app and surface affecting each other like this, is a little tiring.

Here in Denmark the iLive desks are regarded as low cost toys, not on par with the other big players in the field, and it’s a shame. So give us an optional hardware upgrade or something, and make these things work smoothly! Oh, and some nicer faders on the surfaces would be welcome.

Sorry to be so grumpy, but there are just some things that are missing to get into the top league. Look at the new midas desk… It’s less than an ilive system with just an R72…

Hi. We need to be able to ude the short returns (fx returns) for external effects return. I really dont understand why this is not already possible :) using mixer channels is not very handy, want to use these for actual channels!

Yeah, but that doesn’t make any sense. The computer is not connected to the surface, but to the switch. So it should not pass down the ACE connection. That’s the exact problem :)

Hmm… So if they are on the same network, i can’t have the soundgrid standalone driver running at all!? That can’t really be the case…

just hoping the surfaces will get a little more snappy. The GLD seems quite ahead of the iLive when it comes to response and usability. Give us some of that please, or new and better-quality surfaces :) I must admit i expected a little more heft and better build for the money i spend on the R72.

Yes, I know that, but I was wondering if it was possible to even do the recording/playback through the ACE connection, from the surface. Not that this is expected, but if it works, it would be quite something :)

The app is highly unstable yes, and in no way reliable enough for me to rely on it. It is a GREAT tool. Absolutely. But it is not alright to pay 100$ for something that does not really work as advertised.

I have an iPad 3 by the way. It does not work at all, crashes as soon as I open mixpad. Still using my iPad 2 for this.
