Yes, PLEASE. This has been requested many times, in other user groups too. I don’t understand why this can’t be implemented. While they are at it… allow a group send to another group, please.
2023/03/27 at 6:59 pm #112186I wonder what the DLive processors would actually be capable of and also the group processing needs a big beef up to really get around benefitting from external processing.
2023/03/19 at 2:36 am #112061Yes, for sure, MIDI output development would be great.
2022/04/09 at 4:44 pm #106769Group to Group Routing
This is technically possible but you have to burn an input in between each route. We have KICKS, SNARES, TOMS, OHS groups that all return to an input using the group as a source. We then route those group input channels to our DRUMS group, for instance.2022/03/16 at 2:57 pm #106457Visually, I know that it snaps, but I think audibly it does fade.
Same as fader moves and even group assignments will crossfade. We move vocals between lead and background and it is smooth.2022/02/12 at 2:30 am #105966On our surface it is set where PAFL will select a mix, or maybe the other way around, but there is a setting that speeds this up like you’re kind of talking about. I’m not in front of it now and usually am at front of house, so can’t remember specifically. I do know that when I am in monitor world, I hit one button to get flipped to faders and I’m soloing that mix.
2022/01/22 at 3:08 pm #105534I’d take that, but it seems harder to pull off than just spilling the groups. I almost assume that A&H has a reason they don’t want to implement that feature. On our broadcast setup we have DCAs and GROUPs for the same things just because we need group processing but DCA spill for just fader space on the C3500.
2021/10/13 at 5:31 pm #103997+1 :: the engineers in the room will properly say “but what does it meter” and I will say “I don’t know… ask Yamaha and Midas what they meter.”
It would be so helpful visually for the workflow, especially with volunteers on our DLive many weeks.
2021/08/26 at 7:30 pm #103131We’re right there with you on the group routing. It’s amazing how quick you eat up inputs when you do kicks, snares, toms, OHs, etc. to a DRUMS group, then the same with instruments. I do wish we could have more than 64 busses as well, but I assume that’s a pipe dream. When you mix IEMs and mix with groups, they go quickly.
2021/08/21 at 8:49 pm #103041Have you tried using a DYN8 on insert A? It might work well for you in this application. We do this some when we don’t route a channel also through Waves Super Rack.
2021/04/07 at 11:14 pm #100493Yep… make that Waves integration NICE.
2021/04/07 at 2:21 pm #100477+1 again.
Beginning to wonder if they just don’t want this feature, like Macros. It’s a years old, repetitive request. You can spill DCAs but you can’t process on them, it would make set up and fader use far cleaner and simpler if a group could also spill.
@nicola is there any official thought on this feature?
2021/04/07 at 2:16 pm #100476Macros would be amazing. Right now you have to use recall filters and then put those scenes on a soft key. It works, but seems like the long route.
We currently do this with our Waves processing inserts just in case the server crashes; I have SK that unpatches vox, one for all inputs, and one that puts waves back in… although a normal scene recall would take care of that anyway.
2021/04/07 at 2:10 pm #100475There is a library, you can create your own there.
2020/10/20 at 12:19 am #95896Think it is a glitch. It is not something that we’ve found a way to change option wise.
However, a quick(er) fix is to patch the same two inputs to two mono channels somewhere else on the surface and correct the gain differences there, then unpatch.
