Its a design limitation of the Dlive not having touch sensitive faders. The decision for the faders to jump to the end fade position is not so much about fader life but about giving the engineer the ability to “grab” a fader at any time during the timed fade and get control of it instantly. It the faders were to move with the fade time there will be no way for the console to know you have grabbed it and it will keep firing move commands at it until the fade has completed. Because of this limitation I don’t think we will ever see the faders crossfade on Dlive. I’d like to be wrong tho!

In the Cue list editor you can drag a scene from the All scenes tab on the left to anywhere in the Cue list. No need to “Move up” or down using those keys.

The first Question you need to ask yourself is if 64 channels and 42 mix busses will do everything you will need for Theatre shows. That is not expandable!

1 Easy to learn? Thats subjective as any new desk has a learning curve and it also depends on “someones” experience as to wether they will find it “easy” If they have experience with other A&H boards then they should find it very easy to adapt.

2 Scenes: We are also looking at Avantis for our hire dept for theatre use also here in NZ! Scenes are great like dLive is as there are scene crossfade times, recall filters, parameter safes etc. Easy to insert and move/ copy scenes. Download Avantis director and have a play yourself.
Scenes can be auto increment and instant depending on user preference settings. Recall/Edit any scene and then simply update. Putting scene Previous next and Go on the lower softkeys can be convenient. Take care to not bump them though!

3 Why just Dante I/O? Its more expensive for the Dante boxes. Why not buy the cheaper Slink based I/O like the GX4816 etc and then add a Dante card for console splits/recording etc?

4 AMM PFL issue has been mentioned here. Hopefully others can chip in here. 64ch is limiting for some Theatre shows.

5 Compact, powerful, well thought out user interface.

We are an A&H Dealer in NZ if you want further info or competitive pricing then get in touch. Audio Dynamite.

or a dedicated Ducker/expander with an attenuation amount range control. As John McBae states above when side chaining to get a fixed amount of attenuation rather than gain reduction following the source dynamics – as the Dyn8 currently does.

And Stix: thanks for posting that picture: the battery looks to be easily accessible by removing the side panel. The picture is reversed though; the battery is on the right-hand side of the board by the talkback mic input/headphone volume control.

The picture isn’t reversed. As I mentioned I put in a custom battery holder to make any future replacement easier behind the right mixer side panel. The original factory position of the battery was on the right side of the board beside it.

I would open them up and replace them if they haven’t been replaced yet. My iLives are also 10 years old and I needed to replace the button batteries for the bios in those. Note they are hard soldered to the main board and once re[laced there is a procedure to boot up again! Something to do with the screen correct resolution. Info should be available on this from your supplier or A&H support.

On my T112 I took an extra step and put a remote battery holder so that replacement if needed again can be done simply.

    I use is a stereo XLR-3.5 cable.

Be careful with that one – Phantom power is a Phone killer! Use a stereo DI

Personally I’d have preferred some Combo Jack/XLR connectors on Avantis to solve these input cabling issues.

The Demo mode doesnt remember any levels on aux’s. It works as expected when connected to the iLive.

Have you tried reloading the same template or another show when it is in the fault state? Could perhaps be internal battery is getting low and dropping settings when off for a few hours. Could explain why it reboots OK as the battery will have charged slightly while it was on.

Midi-Ox will convert data for you. Might be tricky to install in windoze 10 but I believe it can be installed. Also Midi yoke or loopbe for virtual (internal) midi ports.

You COULD use an X-Touch if you have conversion and midi patch software to do the conversion of custom messages to/from the dLive. I did it in Logic for a Mackie control to work with iLive but it was a LOT of work! MUCH MUCH easier to just buy the IP6 and IP8 controllers!!!
