Yes. I’m not sure if there’s something similar but in germany there is something called a ‘Sachmangel’ which maybe could be used to get your refunded or similar. It describes that when a device is advertised with some features it can’t fulfill you have the right to habe the device repaired or refunded. In my opinion this could be the case on these malfunctioning boards.
I hope for the day that a switch and multiple LAN cables is anything we need for proper audio workstations! All MIDI-Controller, Interfaces and Monitoring devices could be just plugged in to some network switch and the PC/Notebook can be freely placed without the need for hubs or USB cards anymore.
2019/03/17 at 11:40 am #82745Nevertheless it’s a no-go. USB-3 Standards are known since 2008. The desk is from 2014. The specifications and implementation details have been available.
2019/03/17 at 11:10 am #82743You could habe done this with disabling and removing all USB-Debice drivers resulting in non working USB Ports. I’ve tried removing all USB drivers and xHCI devices listed in the device manager. This does lead to more problems than it solves. Don’t break your systems. Just make Allen & Heath build Drivers/Hardware which fulfills USB standards as other manufacturers do.
2019/02/24 at 12:46 am #82198I can confirm that. I switched to a Midas M32R after considering a PreSonus StudioLive III 16. But the Midas M32 is a good console with a big community as well as it isn’t the newest one with experimental features and a lot of bugs. It’s firmware can almost be considered as finished. I didn’t want any more surprises after firmware upgrades with “new features” breakimg the stability of others. I just want a good reliable mixing console with full duplex recording.

But yes, i’ve thought about selling too. But i just don’t want to give up the device as well as i’m not willing to accept the loss in worth because the device is a few months old and not working properly. I bought it for about 1700€ and i would just get something about 900-1000€ . That’s not what i’m willing to accept. Not yet.
I still really hope Allen & Heath will resolve this issue in a few weeks/months.
People have to work with equipment which fullfills the specifications it has been advertised with.

2018/11/20 at 10:58 am #80203I bought the QU-16 primarily for recording and not for live-mixing. Live-Mixing is an additional Feature which lead me to the QU-16 instead of the Qu-Pac. I like to have Faders, Encoders and Knobs.
My main requirements can’t be met reliably with new Up-To-Date Computer-Systems. The way with the QU-Drive functionality requires additional effort as well as hardware (USB-Drives, SSD/HDDs) which has to match the QUs requirements. That’s not a way i or any Studio wants to go nowadays. Either there will be a solution some day or other systems/brands will meet the market requirements.
I really hope that Allen & Heath still cares about us and this problems. Otherwise all of these Systems will become almost completely useless in a few years. That can’t be in the interests of A&H.
2018/11/20 at 9:24 am #80199The driver for windows shouldn’t cause any trouble because the problem exists on macOS and linux as well. It’s detected as class compliant device and can be used without installing any drivers. Just Windows needs drivers but it’s not the only platform which experiences this problem. Therefore the solution has to be a firmware/hardware solution.

2018/11/16 at 9:32 am #80128I’m still experiencing this digital noise on playback from multiple notebooks. Are there any news regarding a v1.96 or working solution?
Thanks for your answer and your effort put into this solution!
2018/08/13 at 4:11 pm #73333Now i got this error even when disabling XHCI via BIOS on my MSI…. At least this had worked until v1.95 ..
2018/08/07 at 4:05 am #73184After some more testing i’ve noticed the same behaviour like Joeschmo. The distortion only occures on the playback stream. The recorded media is not distorted.
2018/07/30 at 6:51 pm #73016After testing v1.95 for some time i’m still experiencing distortions.
It didn’t work on the following systems:
MSI GS 70 2PC Stealth:
– i7-4720HQ
– 8 GB RAM
– 128 GB SSD
– 1 TBThinkpad 13 2nd Gen
– i7-7500U
– 8 GB RAM
– 512 GB NVMe SSDI hope you’re still working on more fixes..

Smokehead2018/06/15 at 6:38 am #71857You technically would need to make your computer appear as USB-Device / USB-Stick. For this feature you need special hard- and software like mentioned in the link below.
That’s not easily done. I think that’s almost impossible. Although it would be nice.. Network storage like a samba server or a network drive would be nice too. But i don’t know if there’s a good real-time capable network storage hard-/software. Without proper buffering it would lead to a lot of problems.

2018/05/25 at 9:54 am #71270I checked again with and without enabled network/wifi cards and other available hardware options on different PC-Systems and couldn’t get any improvement. Two out of my three systems have this issue. Sadly, the only working one can’t be used for recording/mixing purposes.
Are there any news about this issue? Did the technicians find the source of the problem? Any other suggestions for help?

2018/05/02 at 12:42 pm #70762Hi,
i’ve tested disabling CPU-Throttling which was recommended by Made2Create. I couldn’t fix the problem but the behaviour changed. Before doing this i got this error every few minutes for 7-8 sec. each. Now after i disabled throttling it occures almost every 25-30 seconds for 1-2 sec. each.
