Of course Bugfixing is a “must have” but why do you buy something that the console is not capable of and then insist that they have to reprogramm the firmware for your needs?

Dont get me wrong – regular feature updates are very nice and are always welcome – and of course i want them, but i bought my Ilive and i KNEW what it was capable of at the time i bought it and not what it might be capable of in the future.

Just my thoughts on reading so many “i want to haves” on both forums.

This is a brand new item on the market. I did my research as much as possible including driving 800 miles round trip to see it at NAMM and talk with Allen and Heath Reps. From the get go it was understood that all of the features and firmware were not finished. This particular missing feature is a big one im my opinion. A&H put 500 scenes in the GLD but some how forgot to put in a way to quickly access them. This isn’t me begging for a feature that it doesn’t have. It is me pleading for the feature to be added as fast as possible because without it, 500 scenes are pretty useless and the console is almost impossible for me to use for a large portion of my clientele. Until the soft keys are made to have next and previous scenes available there is not a single theatre that would put this console on the top of it’s list.

Okay, another thing that isn;t nessecarily a bug but it bugs me and hopefully A&H can fix.

Everytime I try to save a scene, I have to re-type the name. Make it so we can just hit save and have it retain the existing name that we have given the scene.

    Thanks, Ryan

On the iLive it will work, hope on the GLD as well.

Awesome, This is the work around that will get me through the gig but it is very slow to program all the scenes this way. Thanks for the tip.

The GLD TCP/IP protocol is available to download from the GLD Documents page on the A&H site.

Might be a short term solution until next/previous scene functions are available!

I looked at that and tried to see if I could do a custom MIDI comand in the softkeys which it will let you do however it only lets you choose an actual scene # to recall. Therefore I could still only recall the same 10 scenes, one for each soft key and I would lose the use of the keys for any other funtions. I haven’t looked into an outboard MIDI device to setup Program Changes in to choose all of the scenes but this is really a huge issue for me. All the little bugs that are always expected in a new products are really no big deal but without the ability to recall next or previous scenes with the push of a button is a super bummer!

This shouldn’t just be on the “feature request list.” Without this feature available on the soft keys the console is totally unusable for the musical theatre events that I do, which is a very large portion of my business. I am sure that many other users in the near future will agree. This so important that it really needs to be in the first update, otherwise why even have 500 scenes available if you can only recall 10 of them quickly all at the expense of losing access to other soft key functions.

The hotplug for the USB should work without a reboot.

There were some teething issues with early Beta software.

Can you confirm what software version you’re both running, and if its not V1.00, then you need to do a firmware update.

If you still have issues, please contact A&H technical support.

with firmware 1.0 (non-beta), I have no problems with my fat32 8GB pen drive, both recording and playing files and I connect it everytime when GLD80 is up and running. Notice that you can use only one usb flash memory connected, as said here:

Mine is a 4GB Fat32 drive that’s not working. I’ll try to find another drive to try.

Mine works. It is only 2GB. I completely reformatted the drive prior to ever plugging it in. Maybe that is an issue. I had received some instructions from my rep about using the thumb drives and it had worked perfectly every time.

I would absolutely love it for the “Alt View” button to have an option to show “Preamp Gain” on the channel strips. That would be slick as all get out! I think I would use that more than any other view.
Aux sends are effects sends, no? For example, I patch Aux 10 to the input of effects processor 1. To send channels to this effects processor, I send to Aux 10. I’m still waiting for my GLD, but this is how it works on every other mixer I’ve used.
They are kind of separate on the GLD. Auxs would be your sends for whatever reason you want pre or post fader. FX are sends to the FX rack of which you can have eight.

This is already possible, you can set up to 10 different user profiles with GLD. go to setup – Config tab – user profiles:
Here you can activate/deactivate the profiles, change each users permissions and set passwords for the users.

You could setup a user profile with only the controls you wish users to have and give them a set password to use. Then set your own password for the admin account so they are locked out from accessing everything.

I figured it out. I wasn’t turning on the users.

    #30435

I would love to have it so that I could send it out on a job and have it start up and ask any user to log on with thier password or no password at all that way I don’t have to give out the Admin password to turn it on. It kind of negates the usefullness of having permissions if anyone that can turn on the console can do what ever they want to it.

Another little bug I have found.

When cueing in the phones, if I hit the select buttons on the EQ, Comp, Gate, etc. there a a brief mute of the audio. It does not seem to affect the main output. I will double check to see if it affects the aux outputs. Not sure on that yet.
