What the heck did you do back in the days of only analog? Have you ever mixed on an analog console? Have you ever had to turn the knobs on your comps and gates?

1 X AR842013/04/22 at 2:01 pm #33791Andy, was this caused by bugs in V1.11 or is this in all versions?
Thanks, Ryan

Originally posted by nettingsahjeff, if dsnake uses 100 mbit/s ethernet, that means it uses only two pairs. which in turn means it might be possible with a single four-pair standard ethernet cable to get both the 24/12 plus extender and the “local” 8/4 extender onto the stage, with appropriate 1:2 adapters. has anybody tried this? i might give it a go the next time i get to play with a gld, which is later this month…
I am a networking idiot but I would be stoked it this is true. Can we get a verification of this an the correct pinout please?

1 X AR8402013/03/16 at 1:37 pm #33472How about instead of A&H wasting a bunch of money making an app for the 12 people in the world that actually use Android tablets that you guys stop being so cheap and just buy an iPad.
I use an Android phone and I like it but I bought an iPad for my GLDs.
If you really pay attention to android, note only does the hardware differ between manufacturers but the OS is different for each device. My wife and I have different htc phones with android. Both OS’s are completely different. We get stupid updates all the time so that the apps on our phones will work on different phones. It must suck to be an Android app developer trying to keep up.

Originally posted by andyfI have a GLD which has been updated to the new firmware while on hire, it came back and has gone straight out again…..my customer has noticed some changes and problems! Firstly the boot time has increased to about 3-4 mins, this used to take less than a minute. The AR2412 has lost its phantom power and also I have noticed the reset has disappeared from the Library. These are the problems that have been noticed so far! I’ll be getting the desk back next week, so looking for any thoughts, has anyone else had these problems? cheers Andy
You console is the victim of a stupid, untrained user. The user more than likely didn’t save the scenes and reload them after the update. This was documented in the release notes that the new firmware would delete the scenes. Then the user may have deleted shows.
The user probable enabled the dhcp on the network page. That causes the very long boot time. Disable it and your console will boot fast again.
The user probably doesn’t realize that you have to hold down the phantom button for a couple seconds to turn it on. Of course there is no phantom turned on since the
Scenes got deleted. Why did you send your console out without set restrictions preventing the firmware update?
When I send my console out the users have their own password and they know that they are locked out of certain features to prevent issues!

Why not? Some android tablet’s are very good and JB 4.1 or 4.2 is fast and reliable OS. It will be 1st app of this kind for android []
While talking with the at NAMM I was told that the advantage to the iPad is that the hardware is consistent whereas each manufacturer of android devices uses different parts and pieces so they are never consistent. Therefore I wouldn’t expect to see an android app any time soon. Android is just fine for phones but not for real computing.

You are missing out on a lot of good stuff. I have tons of shows on my GLDs and they don’t lock up. I use the USB recording and playback. I have an iPad connected with no latency issues.
I don’t save shows with 14 characters and I don’t have DHCP enabled. It really s that simple.

1 X AR8402012/09/06 at 12:20 am #31285How about just setting up as a monitor configuration and naming one of the mixes “Mono” then make sure it is post fader and calling it good.
The GLD is so veratile that it really doesn’t matter which mix you use for mains or monitors.
2012/07/30 at 11:32 pm #31091I had a little run in with a lack of scene saving confirmation this weekend. I figured it out.
If I save a scene to a show I need to save the show also or I will lose the scene when I recall a different show.
WHAT WE REALLY NEED IS….either an auto save of a show whenever we change we recall a different show or at least give us a prompt to choose whether to save the show or not before it will recall the new one.
Currently it just tells us that all of the data will be over written. I would much rather have an auto save. When changing shows we aren’t concerned about the extra couple seconds that it will take to save the show.

Oee
I have never used the iLive so I can’t comment on the quality comparison but so far….
I have rented out my new console for one event to another provider and used it for a couple of my own events already. I have it booked for the next six days on various shows.
The sound is great. The effects are great but I need a Ping Pong Delay to be added so I can emulate certain recording’s effects.
The compressors can be heavy or light, I find myself using the Slow Opto compressor the most. The gates can open really fast or really slow. They sound good. Very easy to set it without azny chatter.
The preamps sound really good. When I compare it to my 01V96VCM there is one really noticable difference. On the Yamaha, to get my voice sounding half way decent I use a HPF around 200-212hz. On the GLD it is at 137hz. I found that interesting.
There are still some little features that need to be fixed but I will be buying another one pretty quick here. I am overall very happy with it. The return on the investment is going to be great.
Anyone that ever uses a GLD will never even want to use an LS9 ever again.

MassimoWhen I bought this, I knoew they were going to have a couple fewer features than the iLive to differentiate the two. I don;t know for sure but this could be one of those features that they left out to maintain the price difference between the two.

We did include basic folder support for:
Playback – USB_KEY_ROOT/AllenHeathGLD/USBPlayback
Record – USB_KEY_ROOT/AllenHeathGLD/USBRecord
All – USB_KEY_ROOT/But I do understand the full folder request.
Out of interest, do you therefore anticipate needing to use GB of Audio files ? I’d be interested to get feedback on how much audio people need to use.
I thought to keep it quicker and simpler to navigate, users might put a smaller collection of MP3’s for use with the current show on a USB Key, instead of having to navigate up and down complex tree hierarchies of Audio every time they wanted to play something.
Andy
A&HHaving support for multiple files would be nice. At my show last night I needed to do walking music, show music and exit music. I had to rename all the files to get them in the correct order. Had I been able to have folders I would have already been there and it would have saved a lot of time.
