So, for example,
I right click over the “mute” for channel 1 on Sonar
Click on “remote control”
Push the mute on and off on the QU’s channel 1
hit “learn” on the sonar remote screen
Pushing mute on QU channel 1 now mutes and unmutes sonar channel 1The Sonar 8 program does not control the QU surface… Not sure if it can… Let me know if you get that happening.. I haven’t tried, but it would be great for
2015/11/11 at 4:57 pm #52023Sorry, I don’t get on here much… Not sure what you’re asking…
I go to each channel and right click over a function I want to control. Select remote control. Do the function on the board. Hit “learn”. Done.. Next function, same routine…. Like I said, it’s tedious, but then I save the template and use it each time I pull up a new session. I don’t link things like EQ, pan, etc, that will be set and left alone as I only use it for the mixing (pan being on the super strip, not sure it would work, haven’t tried)…. But each thing you do on the QU sends a midi signal (including each layer being different, so Mix1 controls can be assigned differently than say LR)…
I had some serious issues until I installed and uninstalled a newer version of Sonar… Since then, working on Sonar 8 has been simple…
2015/11/02 at 3:35 am #51838Yes, multitrack streaming the audio into Sonar via USB…. WINDOWS 8 system… Setting it up to know the QU was tedious, but you do it once and save it and it controls many functions you need in your DAW… every fader, every mute, arm, solo… Etc…
2015/10/31 at 7:09 am #51800I use the QU32 in my studio regularly … The ease of a digital desk in the studio is awesome… I have a scene set up as the basic start point for the studio and a template in my DAW to match it and it’s as easy as a couple button presses and your back to square one… Or save your settings as a scene for a particular song in your DAW and then come and go from it with ease… Tons of different mix sends, more than enough inputs…
iPad control for musicians monitors and even control room is sent from the gods…
Having your rig tied to a sequential power conditioner is essential anyways… Invest in that and the button being on back doesn’t matter anymore…
I love it …
2015/10/31 at 6:58 am #51799This issue still happens to me occasionally… I kept thinking a new update or something might fix it…. No luck…. It will do it when I’m just playing mp3s through Windows media player to the Qu too… If I stop it and restart it goes away… Totally intermittent….
2015/03/16 at 11:16 pm #46002The workaround is simply to set your pan within the DAW using a mouse…. am I missing something? Unless you Intend to keep changing the pan during the mix…. Even then, automate it…
2015/02/22 at 1:24 am #45513I just wanted to update this… I have full DAw control in my windows environment Sonar now… It required updated software from my 5 year old version… . I can arm, mute, solo, and transport (with soft keys) and use either the standard or MIDI layer to control faders and various functions (can be different functions for same control on different layers)..
I cannot, as yet, get the DAW to controll the faders on the board, just the board controlling the DAW…. any ideas?
2015/02/22 at 1:09 am #45511See if my thread sounds similar…
2015/02/22 at 1:07 am #45510It seems to do with the buffer settings…. At “Standard” it doesn’t do it… On “low latency” it does… Could be just coincidence too I guess….
2015/02/22 at 1:02 am #45509Similar problem here (same OS)…. Sometimes it just freaks out during playback all screechy.. Can usually be stopped by stopping audio and then restarting… But it’s annoying..
2015/02/22 at 12:57 am #45508No, it stayed between 55-65°F… It has never happened since, but I haven’t left it on more than 10 hours or so since… Probably not more than 2 hours idle at any time.
2014/12/23 at 11:44 pm #44110Was a setting in sonar… Somehow I must have I clicked channel 1…. *sigh*… Life was easier when I was chasing cables…
Thanks for the help!
2014/12/23 at 11:10 pm #44108Ok, I have checked the USB Audio and 1 is set to CH1, 2 to CH2 etc… It may be interesting to note that the Qu ASIO Driver Channel 1 (R & L) is also missing from my fader strips… As noted, the driver for channel 1 appears for my inputs, just not my outputs… I have re-installed Sonar, same thing…. Next I guess I hard reset my Qu, since I guess it’s possible I changed something on there that would cause them to not show up anymore?
Any input is welcome here… I’m having a hard time wrapping my head around this interfacing with the computer… I get some tracks to go down with effects on them, others seem to combine tracks (as if being mixed to stereo)… I’m kind of lost here…
2014/12/23 at 9:24 pm #44106It did, in fact, use 1 and 2 as the main outputs, but I was able to select them as individual outputs before and then assign those outputs to tracks 1 and 2 and then work with the tracks in the right order… (i.e.- track one would go to channel 1 and so forth) now I have to select track one to output on channel 3 in order to get it (because the 1 Left, 1 right, and 1 stereo don’t even show up on the output options… all others do) and 1& 2 are empty…. so nothing, including the master, will output to 1L and 1R…
This also seems odd to me (that they are all numbered only with odd numbers) so instead of a 1 & 2 there is a 1 Left, 1 Right, or 1 Stereo…. instead of a 1, a 2 and a stereo 1&2… is that how it is supposed to appear? This has been this way since I installed the Qu32, but at least I used to have the options of 1L, 1R and 1 Stereo… which seemed to work fine as assigned to be 1, 2 or stereo 1&2 respectively.
They are all set up the way they used to be on the Qu and the sound comes to 3-32 just fine… I will check the setup but I am pretty sure they are set right….
I think this all happened after a Windows 8 update, but not certain that had anything to do with it. If I use an alternate sound source, such as Media Player, it outputs on 31 & 32 on my Qu (31L, 31R and 31 Stereo). but Sonar seemed to default to 1&2 until I would change it at the master output…
Would it not show up if some other program were using those channels? This is all very confusing to me…
Thanks for the input!!
2014/12/17 at 9:44 pm #44028Well, I rearranged my entire studio and now it seems to have stopped. I guess it is possible that it was catching interefrerence with some other gear or power cords even though I thought it was kept away from power sources…. would that kind of thing have cause such a random (and only on playback) issue?
Either way, it’s gone now and I’m liking that… thanks for the input guys
