Aha! Looks like it is a known issue and fixed in v1.1 The notes have fix ID1667 says de-esser dual mono always pulls from channel 1. I guess I just need to update!

Yeah the link was off and was using insert A. Previously I did the same on a gld and that had worked fine.

The thing that tipped me off was it sounded like the de-esser wasn’t on and the reduction meter did not light up at all. I’ll have to check the and see what version of firmware I’m on.

So far I just burned up some more fx slots for my de-essers as a work around until Easter is over.

Just to clarify. Everything looks like it’s patched correctly. When dual mono is selected in the fx back panel you can select 2 different channel inserts. Send and return meters show level and audio passes but the processing (de-esser in this case) does not reduce/affect anything in n the 2nd channel.

I noticed that as well when hooking up our Dante based personal mixing system that the DCA mute doesn’t mute the direct outs.

I use both an ilive and a GLD and the GLD interface is a lot more user friendly and refined, which is cool, but like everyone mentioned above, less power under the hood. It’s a great desk for the price and if it fits your channel count go for it. It still takes all the same digital interface cards that ilive handles as well.

One major difference I found on the GLD is the lack of stereo inputs. The GLD has two stereo inputs 45/46 and 47/48 I think. You can gang inputs together, but not create a stereo channel under one fader. On the ilive you can configure a lot more stereo channels (not sure how many). So if you have to mix a lot of stereo keyboards or cd/dvd sources it can be a pain. It could still be added in a future firmware update.

I gotta admit, that is a cool feature of the x32 that I kind of wish my GLD had.

Also, the ability for the RTA on the GLD to scale better with different volume levels. My rta hardly shows any level unless I have things really cranked up. Makes it kind of a useless feature for me when hardly anything shows up on the screen at low levels.

I quickly found that the Soft keys are lifesavers for this. You can program a softkey to select a mix bus, and while it is selected that softkey lights up. So I setup a softkey that selects the Main LR bus and labeled it as such. I tell volunteers that if that button is not lit up you are on the wrong mix, so I teach them to check it often.

Also, I set up all our stage monitor aux busses on softkeys as well so they can easily select and de-select busses without having them hidden under layers.

Also I have a scene safe on our softkeys so they are never changed by scene recalls, this keeps the operation consistent.

    Hope that helps.

Ah ok, so the original issue is still there. I found the 45/46 and 47/48 stereo channels, I just wanted more of them. The main problem with using a group as a stereo channel is it chews up more mix output and mixbus resources, but it is a good idea for a work around.
