    Resurrecting this thread.
A little bird told me that A&H was showing a new system in Asia last month. I didn’t believe it but it looks like something is coming???

    Well said dhak!

This is the third or fourth thread of people complaining for price drops. Guys, that’s modern technology for you. You can’t buy an iPad and expect it will retain its market value over the years – get real. As competitor products appear on the market, and manufacturers develop new stuff, it’s only logical that existing products are reduced in price.

It’s also the fourth or fifth thread of people who feel ‘let down’ by their iLives. As many said before, you can’t expect hardware designed 10 years ago to keep the pace of the latest generation with new toys and FX. Can you run Yosemite on a 10 years old Mac? I doubt it.

I agree with others that iLive is still a superior product for its price point compared to others. And we are enjoying a stable software courtesy of years of free updates.

    Mark,
What’s wrong with recording the Insert sends? So the same 64 signals go to Waves Multirack for processing and to the SG Driver for recording.

If you can afford the second GLD, why not throwing in 2x ACE cards (or Dante) so you get your split system with all 48 channels?

Have you considered a Windows touch laptop or 2-in-1 for wireless mixing using GLD Editor?

Hmmm. The Qu Forums page counts 540 topics and about 3k posts. Looks like the site was launched a year ago so that makes around 8 posts a day on average? But I guess most of the early threads were about missing features, now people seem generally happy with their Qu mixers. I am anyway – just wishing the monitor app was out by now.

coffee_king, I have copied manually parameter by parameter from my Yamaha. Took the best part of a day. Glad someone’s using them.

I’ve seen similar prices from other manufacturers, Soundcraft and Mackie included (actually 60 quid for a Mackie VLZ). It might be a couple of bits of metal but still takes an engineer to do the drawings, someone to manufacture it (probably in China) and ship it over to you. You shouldn’t blame A&H, a big chunk of the money will stay with the dealer or distributor, you are not paying £45 to A&H that’s for sure.

Same discussion a few months ago: https://community.allen-heath.com/forums/topic/is-ilive-getting-update

Come on guys, do you expect an 8 years old digital mixer to keep up to date with the latest generation? My new cheap phone is much faster and more powerful than my iPad 1, and I cannot run the latest OS X on the iPad, but that’s technology for you!

As mervaka says in that thread,

It’s been developed into a stable, maturity platform with way more features than the original specification envisaged.

Did people complain with Yamaha because features were missing from the PM5D? Or they just waited for a replacement? Personally I’d be happier knowing that the A&H guys are working on a new iLive, rather than trying to squeeze in features. Guess what, they probably are, but why on earth would they tell us? If you want to sell the current Merc C-class, you can’t say much about the new one coming next year!

Some DAWs like Reaper and Logic Pro natively resample audio ‘on the fly’ to match your audio interface.

I seem to remember the Seagate Free Agent is on Joeco’s recorder black list. Perhaps some kind of energy saving feature that kicks in?

Have you tried with a Chorus with Stereo Fields set to mono, and Depth, Rate, Pan Depth to -inf?
Of course it is not ideal – the return level is somewhat lower than the send, and bear in mind the return is out of phase (has extra latency) so careful about mixing with other channels!
