+1000 for the possibility to patch via remote app.
For me it would be enough to have the patching available for the channels (input and output).
Background: I am working often alone and also most of the time for different, previously unknown, bands which seldom have a correct rider sent before the day of the concert. Even if I know the band, it can happen that they have some extra instruments/musicians on that day. This means that I often have to define the list of input channels after the band comes to the venue. I am using two DX168X with the SQ, one on the left and one on the right side of the stage. This helps me to reduce the usage of longer XLR cables. But before I know what instrument is used and where it would be placed on the stage I cannot do the patching on the console.
At the moment I have to patch the instruments on the DX and note the patching on a piece of paper and then run to the console to change the patching. To make the work even more complicated I have to patch the DXs before the patching of instruments to swich of the PP before patching something to the sockets because they “remember” the previous used PP and Gain settings. This I have to do because since now I did not found a setup page for the input sockets which probably are not patched to input channels

Previously, before I replaced the Console with the X by the one with the SQ, it was easy. Patch the instrument, then select the input for the next free channel and name it. And there is also one extra page to setup the PP and gain for each connected input socket no matter whether they are used in the input patching or not.

    Hi Keith,

There will be DEEP units for channel processing (compressors and GEQ’s) coming soon, and yes, there will be new effects in the future too.

V1.3 is planned for release in September, with the first DEEP units available shortly afterward.

So, that means that we can expect the V1.3 in September (I read ‘not before end of September’ 😉 ) which will be enabled to run DEEP processing units but without additional effects like the one which ar part of the GLD/dLive FX Lib but not available in the SQ. Is that true? Will that missing FX stuff be released as plugins like the tube preamp? Can you provide any more information what features are planned to be released with V1.3?
    Thanks in advance
    Klaus

Great news for the GLD users. I will download it as soon as I can because the official app not of my taste;-). It seems that this version of Mixingstation will only be available in the pro version. Am I right?
Is there any chance to support also the dLive? I know we should not be too greedy but the dLive app is unfortunately of the same kind as the one for the GLD so an enhanced, more user friendly app would be fine;-)

169.254.172.193 or similar ip addresses are used by the network devices if neither a DHCP Server provides a network address nor a manual address is set by the user. Because you directly connect your Dante Card with your Macbook, which has a manual defined ip address and do not run a DHCP Server, the card uses that 169.x.x.x address.
You can manual change the address in the Dante Controller as it is described in https://www.allen-heath.com/media/ap8340_4-M-DANTE.pdf.
use one similar to the one of the Macbook e.g. 192.168.1.50/255.255.255.0.

On the other side, the SQ has 25 (24 regualr and 1 for the talkback) mic inputs, 6×24 (on my SQ6) fully configurable faders. Also the Mix Keys on the right side are very handy. I was used to work with Yamaha consoles all the past years so the concept with 3 encoders and four buttons to select the band is common to me.
If the SQ would have mono matrices, HPF/LPF on the PEQ, the missing insert effects, ganging and the scene management of the GLD it would be a no brainer to choose the SQ6 which is for me the best form factor of the SQ series. Ok, my wishlist is quite longer than those five features but I hope that tose are also on the top of the feature list for the next feature update;-)

… channel encoders, configurable bus layout, user management, better scene handling (cue lists, recall filters), larger channel displays with more information, ganging. The FX Library of the SQ do not have all those insert effects like Transient Controller, Multiband compressors, Dynamic EQ, and so on. Things I desperately miss on the SQ. On the other hand the sound of the SQ is imho better than the GLD. I really hope that the next feature update (scheduled for autumn) will come with a lot of the missing features.

    ad 1) +1
ad 2) if you read this document https://www.allen-heath.com/media/SQ-6-Technical-Datasheet.pdf carefully you will find on page three this paragraph:

An option shall be provided for password protection
for log-in of several users with different levels of
system access and permissions. A particular scene
may be chosen to be recalled per change of user-login if desired.

so, I think it is in the pipeline;-)

An option would be to use a post fader stereo aux instead group. Set all drumm channels to unity gain and add thr reverb return with the desired level. The result would imho be the same but without extra return channels or similar.

I had the same issue yesterday. SQ6 with Firmware 1.2.2 and two DX168/X. Everything was connected before the power on sequence. The power on sequence was DX168-1, DX168-2 and at last the SQ6. The orange lights were flashing, in the routing tab I saw that the DX Link was established. But when I tried to route some signals to the output the Black/white square shows me that the output is not available. I simply disconnected and reconnected the SLink cable and the I it works fine. It seems that the initialization of the stageboxes on power up was not completely done by the SQ.
There is also another issue, maybe it is one by design. In in the output routing tab of the SQ I have to rout the output sockets 1-8 for the first DX168 and 17-24 for the second one. the output sockets 9-16 always are displayed as unavailable.

Where do you place the terminations? In fact you don‘t need them. Simply use your cat5 cable to connect the SQ sLink to the AR2412 dSnake. Connect the AR2412 to the AR84 (Expander on both devices). Thats it, no terminations.

I did several concerts with either a combination of a SQ6 with an AR2412 and AR8904 as well the combination of the SQ6 with the AR2412 and a AB168. I always used a professional cat5 cable from Klotz with Ethercon connectors. Now I am using the SQ6 together with two DX168X. Mostly I use the same cable but in some cases I also used a pre installed cat5 cable from the venue (standard IT cables). I never had a problem with that combinations. But I have to confess that I always use a UPOS for the stageboxes and one for the SQ6. I do that mainly to prevent the mixer system from accently shutdowns when there are power issues in the venue. In my opinion power conditioners are not worth the money.

I usually just double those channels which needs extra EQing for monitoring. This helps me to avoid a lot of unnecessary work;-)
