Dante is working on TCP networks, so a standard 1GByte switch will work.
If I would configure such a system I also would prefer Dante because it is more flexible than the A&H SLink connections.
But I would do it a little bit more flexible than Steffen sugested. I would plan one DX168 for each desk with the option to carry it to that which needs more inputs close to the desk. If it is made clever enough you can forget the DX-Hub because two Stageboxes can be daisy chained and together with the local analog inputs of each desk you will reach the total amount of inputs currently usable.

Hmm, dat could be the root of the problems but imho is not an excuse. Even if they are different they can act the same. different cars are based on different hardware but the pedals are working in the same way.

At the moment I am using one Y-Cable (TRS Jack to two TS Jacks) for exact that purpose. From the SQ the signal goes to a simple Monitor Controller which also provides a Headphone out, so I do not loose that option. A monitor controller is nevertheless a good option since the SQ do not have relays on the outputs and would cause a plop when turn of the power in my active near field monitors.
This is the same I am doing also for the XR18;-) (does that means that the two are somehow comparable?;-))

Also a +1 from my side.
See two possibilities both should work during changing the value:
    1) Display of the numeric value
    2) Display of a progress bar.
Best would be both with the option to choose

It is possible to assign processing parameters of the current selected channel for the encoders.
I would like to see the parameter name instead of the channel name in the display of the encoder. Example: I use two encoders for the gate depth and compressor gain. Now I see the name of the selected channel two times for that two encoders. Better would be ‘range’ and ‘gain’ or similar

No, there is no possibility to route PAFL signals to outputs. It is only accessible via the Headphone output.

The makeup gain is 4.0, so a second line is drawn to visualize that.

If you are using an external audio interface, you can use the local IO to pass signals from the GLD to this interface and back form the interface to the GLD.
The output sockets of the GLD which are connected to the interface can be assigned to the outputs of mixbusses (post fader) which are used as send busses for the external FX. The returning signals which are coming to input sockets oft the GLD can be assigned to channels to be mixed together with the rest of the channels.
This is quite the same procedure as you will do when you connect an external multi effect processor.

On the Laptop I would prefer to you an VST Host like the Waves MultiRack, or LiveProfessor. There are also freely available VST Hosts. But for the first steps it would be possible to use a DAW to do that job. In this software you have to load the favorite Reverb plugin and connect that plugin to the inputs and outputs of your interface.
Then send signals to the computer, tweak the parameters of the reverb as you like and listen;-)

I am afraid that more detailed instructions needs the information which Computer, Interface and software you want to use.

My update was also successful, same for the upgrade of the tube stage preamp.
Maybe there are serious reasons why A&H sell two versions of the plugin, one for the SQ5 and one for the SQ6, but I can’t the them. based on the serial and the DNA code it should be possible to distinguish between those two types. I can’t remember but could it be possible that the DNA Code is changed wen you update the firmware from 1.1 to 1.2.
I followed exactly the mentioned procedure, update the firmware, write down the Serial and DNA, “buy” the plugin in the shop and then generate the key based on the previous noted Serial and DNA. I see a lot of pitfalls for the users which are not clearly documented.
    – is it required to enter the ‘-‘ too?
    – is it required to respect case sensitivity for the entered values?
    – do the key generator code check for valid entered serial or dna codes?
    – do the key generator check whether the plugin matches the console, eg. based on serial number?
    – why must be the serial and DNA entered twice? these are no password fields, the user can check the values before hitting the button to generate the key (ok, maybe the field width can be larger so the whole value is visible;-) )
    ….

As an old software developer I am used to deal with such kind of tricky product registrations/unlocking mechanism. The one for the A&H plugin is far away from being the worst, but also not even close to those which are easy to handle. I hope that A&H can make the procedure easier for the customers in the future.

Never the less the new firmware is fine. I really love the free definition of channel colors. for me it is the number one feature of this release;-)
My next favorite feature would be the improvement of the scene management so that I am able to do some theatrical/musical stuff with the SQ. But I think I have to switch back to a M32 next month:-(

I am using the Mixingstation for both type of the X-Consoles and also for the M-Console because it adds extra value to these products.
So I would like to have also the same extra values for the SQ, and probably in future also for the dLive.

No, the shutdown procedure will not cause pop sounds for the speaker. Additionally when yoz run AR2412, AR804 or AB168 stageboxes you can switch of the board without danger after the software shutdown. This is because the stageboxes have relays on the outlets which will be opened once the connection to the board is lost. The same you can observe when you switchon the board after you switched on the stageboxes. The relays will be closed after the digital connection is established to the SQ.
Unfortunately the outlets of the board itself do not have relays. They will pop on power up and power down.
Since I do not own a DX168 I can’t say how they will work.

The best way would be to use a wireless inear system. Low latency and reliable connectivity would help. Feed the inear from the headphone outs and everything will be fine.

    Hi Steffen.
Thank you for the explanation. There will be reasons why A&H do it in that way even when a simple link of the processing parameters will give me, the operator, more or less the same result;-) But it isas it is and lets see what the future will bring.
Nevertheless I hope you understand the reasons for my freature request.

    Regards

Ok, let me explain my use case.
I am often working for smaller festivals in summer where on the same day several band are playing one after each other. The festivals are not that big as, let’s say, Wacken and therefore it is not possible to apply an armada of FOH consoles together with a summing console. Furthermore there is just one console for all bands. If everything works fine it is time enough to to a basic soundcheck for each band right before the “festival” is opened for the audience. These desk configuration should be stored for later usage within the desk. A similar approach you will have when you do a club job with a main act and one or two supporting acts.

During the show and during the changeover a break music should be played and it also should be possible to use a microphone either to announce some things or just entertain the audience. the break music and the microphone should not be muted during the changeover.

At the moment I see that using shows will interrupt the break music an d also the microphone. Also changing the mono/stereo Assignment of the inputs will interrupt the audio signals. Ok, it will interrupt the signals for a shorter time on the SQ than on a dLive, but it will interrupt it. It is also not possible to change the output routing or other static things because they will be reverted when you load the show. Think about an additional matrix output for video, for example.
On a dLive I can use ganging as a workaround to create stereo channels on the fly, but this way is currently not possible for the SQ. Maybe ganging will never be available for the SQ.
So at the moment doing such jobs with the SQ have a lot of disadvantages for me as far as I can see.
But probably someone here has a good idea to adopt my simple approach for the SQ.

And yes, the Behringer X32 is far away from being perfect. But the best would learn from the rest, that’s one of my credos;-)

    SQ6+2x DX168+DANTE

Ist Dante in this constellation reality or just a wish? If reality what do you use and how did you get it?

I use always, ALWAYS, an UPS for my mixers. That prevents me against accitently power loss on the mixer.
On the other hand I was also disappointed that the SQ do not have relays on the outputs like the GLD.
Currently I use the GLD stageboxes and those have output relays. So the do not produce popps on shutdown. Hopefully the DX will work the same way.
