And rolling one of the wheels adjusts the level of all the channels assigned to it, while (theoretically) keeping the differences between them the same. Assign some channels to a wheel, and set them at some different levels. Go back to the wheel and move it a bit. Look at the assigned channels again, and their levels will have changed.
If you turn it up so far that any of the channels reaches the top, they all stop at that point. Turning down does not reach a stop, and you can end up with everything off. Turn it up again, and you maintained the differences you set initially.
Hope this helps too!
E2A – Beaten by Bob!
Don’t call me Shirley
You’ve got me thinking now, but no.
I can pan a mono input from left to right (obviously when sending to a stereo mix).
I can pan each side of a stereo input as if it were 2 monos. In this case pans can be independent, but would more normally be linked and opposite.
I adjust the balance between the left and right side of a stereo input – but they still get sent where I’ve panned them.
If I have a stereo output, and I want the left to be louder overall, then I’d also be adjusting the balance.
Yep, what dpdan said.
I can see that 16/24/32 Multi-Band Compressors is probably not possible but an effects unit that can be inserted into a channel should be OK.
Also, I want to be able to select, and edit effects from Qu-Pad.
Ah, I see.
Terminology thing. I call the L-R control of where an input goes “Pan”, and the relative L-R amount of a stereo output “Balance”.
Pan is just above the faders, when looking at any of the stereo mixes.
I’d leave it until the production’s over, just to be safe, though I’ve never had a problem with any update. If you use the QuPad app though, make sure that it does not auto update to 1.6, or it will not work.
But very uncool to post about it so many times!
Thanks for the clarification Nicola. (We seemed to have crossed posts).
I was pretty sure that most of my playback files are 44.1 / 16 as that’s the obvious way to take them from a CD.
OK Good.
So Nicola, is the manual correct?
Actually Bob,it is for playback:
“Stereo Playback – You can play back audio files
from a USB storage device plugged into Qu-Drive:
Format = 44.1 or 48kHz, 16 or 24-bit, WAV file”
Page 42 – User Guide 1.6
I’d like a cut down rack version. Maybe 6 mic inputs + 2 St inputs makes for a nice 8 Chanels on one page view. Probably wouldn’t want many mix outs, but a second or third headphone out in place of the stereo mixes would go down well.
“Be aware this is still analysing the PAFL bus, which is not necessarily the selected Mix”
Ahhhh. I now understand why my eyes & ears didn’t agree with each other last week!
I like all my (wedge) monitors on one DCA. Then if I start to hear a little ring of feedback, I can easily tweek the levels down everywhere, before it starts blasting out.
Print?
Who takes a printer to a gig?
Pen & paper for this job sherley?
Is No 4 what the channel link function does, or do you mean something else?
I’m not sure I understand 2 & 5
