You don’t say how much experience you have with the mixer so I’ll assume that you don’t have much so I can give you as much info as I can.

First, If you haven’t read the manual, download the latest version and read it.

Second, if you just want to record the sermon, or just the main mix, consider recording directly to an external hard drive. No computer needed. If you just want to record the mixed signal, you can even record the stereo to a USB Thumb Drive on USB-A

Lastly, if you must record to the computer, you will need a DAW Program. You didn’t mention one so I assume you didn’t know that. There is a video on how to set the Qu up as a DAW Controller from Allen & Heath. You can watch it here.

    Hope this helps.

Maybe it isn’t a software issue. It could be hardware. Something as simple as a bad transistor. If I were you I would send it in.

The Qu Series do not have a standard MIDI DIN Connector but they send and receive MIDI messages via the USB-B connector on the back of the board. If your guitar FX has a thru port, you could probably send messages to the mixer.

As stated above, if you tie up your network port with MIDI, you cannot use an iPad. One other thing. Using the TCP/IP port for MIDI (at least with a computer) requires special drivers.

Do yourself a favor. Download and read the instruction manual that comes with the mixer.
You can find it here: https://www.allen-heath.com/ahproducts/qu-16/#tab4

We all have to start somewhere. This is will answer a lot of your questions.

I use a product called Popper Blocker on my PR35. They really work and they don’t cost much. It’s a fiber screen that goes between the existing screen and the element.

I think a simple “No, not that I am aware of” would suffice. There’s no need to flame someone for asking a question. That’s what this forum is for right?

    Try this.
First, make sure you are using an approved USB drive. You can find a list of tested drives on the A&H website.
Do a quick format using your computer.
Plug the drive into the Qu and format it there.
Download the update to your computer and copy it to you drive.
Plug the drive into the Qu and follow the update procedure.

You are right. Multiple streams via TCP/IP would solve the problem too but it also requires additional drivers. Allen & Heath has their own reasons to restrict the network port and that is their business.

You have a valid point about the USB recording packets but it wouldn’t be an issue the way I envision using the program.
Here is how I see it:
When you load my program, it would load a default scene. (You would have control over just what constitutes your default settings but that’s not important now.)
You would have the choice of loading all the current settings from the mixer or loading them from a file, or simply editing the current (default) settings.
None of changes you make on the user interface would be sent to the board until you press the “Send” Button.

So, you could setup a show without even having the mixer hooked up. Or, you could setup a second band while the first band is still on stage. It’s not meant to control the mixer live, so you really wouldn’t be recording when you click the send button.

    No,
They don’t have to do anything. This one was completely operator error. It was my own fault.

    Thank you Nicola!
    That explains a lot!

I thought I was losing my mind. It dawned on me just before I wrote the post so I haven’t tried it yet. I’m off to a festival now so I won’t have a chance to try it until Tuesday of next week.

Of course, I would prefer that your engineers implement it on the USB Port if possible. That way, I wouldn’t have to give up using the iPad App in order to use my editor. But I imagine they have more important things to do.

    Thanks Again,
    -Marty

So, when Apple sells its new iPhone later this fall, they should continue to sell it for the same price indefinitely? That makes no sense at all. Early adopters will always pay more. That’s just the way it is.

The only other solution (besides using a second mixer on stage) is the ME-1 series personal mixer.

I don’t want to argue the merits of WordPress. You know more about it than I do. I would, however, caution you about using third party plug-ins, especially when you do an update. If you have one that is incompatible it can make your site unreachable.

I wonder how many users simply don’t bother posting or responding because of the time involved. I know you will sort it out eventually. Good luck!

It is a dog. Word Press is for people with no experience. I was surprised to see a company with a reputation as good as A&H with a Word Press website.

When you do switch providers, take a look at Amazon Web Services. I use it for my website and it is stupid easy to implement. I pay 51 cents a month for a basic site.

Take a look at this video. On it, Dave Rat, a very well respected sound engineer and one of my personal heroes, explains how to EQ a system with nothing more than a good pair of headphones and a good set of ears.

    Hope this helps.
