I started to write an offline editor for the Qu series a while back. I had all of the MIDI commands working in a class module (no user interface) but then I discovered that I could not rename any of the channels unless I used the TCP/IP Port. And, since the mixer only allows a single connection to that port (which is used buy the Qu-Pad App, it was rather pointless. The reason I wanted an editor in the first place was so I could set up a new scene for the next band while mixing the first. Nicola verified that renaming is not supported via the USB Port. After that, I lost interest.

I will never understand it. This is about the hundredth thread about android support. I see it on the Presonus forum all the time too. If you absolutely needed Android wireless access, why did you buy a mixer that doesn’t support it? It’s like buying a sixteen channel mixer if you really need twenty-four. If you really need an iPad, buy one. A used one probably won’t break the bank. Think of it as an investment, write it off on your taxes. There is a reason professional sound companies charge more than your brother-in-law. If you want to run with the big dogs, you have to learn to piss in the tall grass.

Rant over. I didn’t mean it as a personal attack. It’s just an observation.

Price-wise, it’s a pretty big jump from a Qu to a GLD. If they could add the ability to send and receive on the same channel like some other mixers, we could use external plugins. That way, we could choose the effect that is right for that channel at that particular time. Waves MultiRack Native works great with other mixers in this price range.

Try a Hard Reset and then start over including re-formating the thumbdrive, download the firmware again, etc.

To hard reset the Qu mixer:
    – Press and hold the touch screen Reset and Setup keys together and then power up the mixer. Keep the keys pressed for at least 3 seconds while the mixer boots. Release the keys.

Is this a new mixer? Did Aux1 ever work?
If it is new, can you simply exchange it at the store? It sounds to me like the output amp for aux1 is blown.

Are you certain that your version of Qu-Pad did not automatically update to ver 1.6? It’s a setting on the iPad. Mine did before I noticed it is an option. Just a thought…

There are so many conflicting reports and reviews on the internet that it’s just about useless. Find a mixer with the features you need at a price you can afford and buy it. Frankly, arguing about which pre sounds better is subjective at best and a waste of time at worst. There are lots of general audio sites where wannabe engineers argue this kind of stuff til they’re blue in the face. I don’t think anyone here really wants to take the bait.

I think what you are describing is by design. They are all independent of each other.

I guess I would assume that I did something wrong the first time and try to recreate it.

Did I miss something? I know you can record multi-track to a stick but I thought Allen & Heath did not recommend it. Has that changed? It’s cool if it works. I’m just curious.

I use my own for two reasons. First, the obvious security issues. The router is plugged into the mixer, hidden from view by other wireless devices. I don’t have to worry about anyone else “helping” me with the mix.
Second, I get all the bandwidth to myself. Qu-Pad is a pretty bandwidth intensive app. I’ll take all I can get.

I also have the peace of mind that I am not relying on someone else’s stuff.

If you have DHCP enabled, you should boot the router, wait until it is ready and then turn the mixer on.

Maybe you should read the release notes to see if they have added any “must have” features. Everyone’s situation is different. I updated my Qu-16 and it is all working smoothly.
