    Hi Jeff,

It does sounds very unlikely that it could be related. on the other hand, if thats the only thing that changed, then it kinda has to be, right ?

anyway i just opened a support ticket, so i’m hoping a solution is on its way.

well, i suppose anything’s possible at this point, however i don’t think it is related.

I know they removed the embedded VLAN1 tagging from the gigaACE protocol. which should make it easier to run gigaACE over the same fiber setup.
However the gigaACE protocol isn’t used to connect the DX ports. So any changes made to the gigaACE protocol shouldn’t affect the DX ports at all.

I still think they changed something to the DX protocol though. I can’t think of any other explanation why this won’t work anymore.

so today i had some time to test a few things,

I updated the system with the dx32’s disconnected, rebooted the system, after that i connected a dx32 over a copper network cable. the system says its updating the dx32 (so apparently there’s an update for them aswel) and when that’s done, no error’s appear. when i swap the connection with the fiber option. the error reappears. so i guess its not the update over fiber that’s going wrong.

at this point i think i’ve updated (and downgraded) about 5 or 6 times so a bad install seems unlikely aswel.

    any other suggestions ?

I’m experiencing some dx32 networking trouble after updating.

Does anyone know if changes were made to the DX Network Protocol ?

for the people interested in this,

I just heard from my local distributor that this MCA feature will be part of the 1.8 software update that is coming up soon.

I would call that good news.

if you are sure that you could make a fiber connection from the booth to the stage, you could also buy a pair of gigabit mediaconverters (tp-link’s works great and aren’t that expensive) and use them to put your CDM32 at the stage. works like a charm.

i have tried using dedicated Vlans for the GigaACE but no luck there, theoretically it should be possible. but it’s not recommended because it seems to rely mostly on luck.. however, the mediaconverters are plug and play. at least the were for me.

and off course you could also run a DX box over those media converters if you’d like.

    @scott i didn’t know that !!

however this is still no option for me, because i run my show using scenes. and using your method would screw up my cuelist.

still good to know though !! so thanks.

Programming 2 or more different settings for the console lighting would be nice aswell.

Like dimming al the console lighting with 1 touch of a button.

    I have the same situation.

I too have quite a few musicians who use their Ipad mainly for their sheetmusic, but also make some changes to their monitor mix. and i also have heard some complaining about having to reconnect every time they open the app, which isn’t easy WHILE you’re playing i might add 😉 .

so it would be great if this could be changed.

so totally agree with Wolfgang. 🙂

    But thanks anyway

it’s because i want to run it over a fiber connection alongside a few other network connections (speaker management etc.) and it’s way more cost effective than the FiberACE option. so it allows me to run a single fiber to the FOH instead of 2 separate fibers.

it’s something that should be perfectly fine according to this documentation.

so it might not be specifically recommended, it’s also not specifically NOT recommended. if that makes any sense 😉
