Thanks for that, Richee. I think I’ll update to 1.82 today.
I appreciate that you took the time to come back to the thread and posted to let us know what was going on. Cheers.2015/11/25 at 7:38 am #52289I’ve had the flickering after a firmware update on every update I’ve installed on my QU-16. I was afraid the first time I saw it but now I just shut down and reboot and it is fine.
I’m anxious to check out the new features, but I’ll be waiting to see if anyone has issues with this update. I skipped the last one.
2015/11/17 at 4:06 am #52152You can save many “scenes” that include all parameters including effects, then change the “scene” as the music plays while you are mixing. But as was mentioned, there is no automation of motion- you must use a DAW to record your fader or knob movements.
2015/11/15 at 1:14 am #52096Yes, it works well. I was using it today. Send it out a stereo mix output. You’ll need to hook it up with two balanced to unbalanced cables- XLR female pin 3 (cold) to pin 1 (ground) > 1/4″ TS male. Then you just need two 1/4″ TS male to male cables to bring it back to the mixer.
It sounds so nice. Today I cleared space in the Big Sky to make presets for an upcoming project. I dialed in some beautiful rooms and halls as well as some really off the wall rhythmic reverbs.
2015/11/07 at 7:53 pm #51941Thanks for the response, Richee. I think I’ll wait until the next update to install the firmware, I’m in the middle of a project right now and I like to be cautious.
2015/11/06 at 8:38 pm #51935Any further information about the crackling? @Richee and jonnyweston- have either of you had continuing problems? Or did you find a culprit or solution for the noise?
Still waiting to install the 1.8 update…
2015/10/27 at 5:55 pm #51717Ok, thanks for the reply.
2015/10/27 at 4:52 pm #51710Overall how is 1.8 for everybody? Any issues? I’ve got the QU-16 and no dSnake.
Thanks.2015/10/23 at 8:56 am #51602I’m using the QU-16 every day in our studio. My only complaint is I wish I’d gotten the QU-24 for more in/outs. But I don’t have room and that would have stretched my budget a bit.
Pros-
With Logic it’s been completely painless to set up and record. It just works.
I like the preamps, I love the converters. Excellent sound. The mixer itself is silent in use, the preamps are quiet.
Great workflow. There are a few menus hidden in strange places, but mostly it is very easy to use.
Great build quality.
Great service from A & H, constant updates.
Lots of inputs and outputs.Cons-
The power switch is difficult to reach.
Like most audio products, the headphone output is on the right side even though almost all headphones input at the left ear.
I wish the compressor had a sidechain function.I think that’s it. Not many cons, it’s a wonderful mixer for a small studio.
2015/10/02 at 8:24 pm #51037I’d like that and also a way to link 1 & 2, 3 & 4.
2015/09/30 at 7:43 pm #50982Spectrograph is much appreciated. Looking forward to 1.8.
Thanks A & H.2015/08/14 at 6:25 pm #49843@[XAP]Bob- I haven’t spent much time using the custom layer, but the ability to hide one of the linked faders is just what I need. I’m going to get this set up today. Thanks for the good idea.
2015/08/06 at 6:49 pm #49702The OP would buy a mixer, hook it up for one day, return it for no good reason to try some random other mixer, then start the process all over again rather than read the slim, well written manual for his/her very nice $2,000 purchase? That’s a kind of lazy I cannot fathom.
“I have only two options, exchange it for another mixer to work as I need it or undo the purchase”
You always have a third option- learn something.
2015/07/29 at 11:44 pm #49623I believe some desks can send/return to and from the computer on the same mixer channels. I have never used a mixer like that, I don’t even know what the functionality is called, so someone correct me if I’m wrong. But I believe I have seen it mentioned as a feature of other mixers.
I’m guessing that would mean you could use a VST effect as an insert on a channel? Currently, on my Qu-16, I can send a track to a channel in the computer, add a VST and return route it to another channel on the mixer. I lose a channel that way. I don’t know what other benefits the “inline” feature would bring, but I thought I’d mention it here. The lack of that functionality may be the reason the Qu series aren’t always thought of as recording mixers.
Sorry for the lack of technical specificity.
2015/07/28 at 2:13 am #49556One thing not mentioned yet is that the Qu-16 doesn’t have physical channel inserts for compressors and EQs. That might be a consideration for the OP. I don’t know about inserts on the Qu-24 or the Qu-32?
