There’s nothing in the QU Routing screen to do this. This looks to be a common problem that some folks solve with a jumper or unused mix channel. I don’t have a spare mix and no spare channels. Any other suggestions?

Ahhhh I figured it out. Took a while. I read page 29 of the manual 3 times and sorted it out. The “CHx” labels on the “dSnake In” tab refer to the QU channel numbers. The “Main x” labels inside the buttons of the “dSnake In” tab refer to the AR2412 socket number.

So you go to the dNsnake patch tab and pick the QU channel. It’s backwards to what I was thinking but wished the manual had been a little bit better on that.

FOLLOWUP: I discovered that the right angle adapter was only barely making contact and the TB mic would intermittently work itself loose enough so that it didn’t work. You need an extender to clear the lamp. I had to abandon the lamp which is a great disappointment.

Got it. Thanks Mike. I’m pretty sure I’m the last one to convert to digital … not my last question tho. 🙂

I think I get maybe how it works … Looks like the GL2800 mic/line selector was just a pad but the QU preamp just handles either. So the inputs are not selectable per se. The channel’s preamp setting from the scene just “selects” it.

    FWIW, I found these hangers.

Conveniently, there’s an under desk model that holds two:

These are good solutions. I found some wall and under table 3D printed hooks. Putting on a 90 degree right angle adapter and running the cable under the mixer keeps the cord out of the way. The RA adapter gets one less thing out of the way of the dust cover not fitting. The lamp, TRS cables and talkback are still a problem. Sigh.

I’ve implemented the scheme with multiple users of the STANDARD userID that you nicely describe @Rafael. Will be trying it out today. Technically, one entity could store over top of another entity’s scene but I can keep weekly backups to restore from I think. Thank you.

I didn’t think of having multiple BASIC users as a way to prevent the scene clobbering scenario. Problem there is that they can’t update their own. I’ll mull that over.

I understand it’s complicated and the more expensive desks is where it’s fully implemented. I do want to see how far I can get with what’s implemented in the QU so if I’m missing something, please let me know.

When you login as a Standard user, does it just load the first scene in the range assigned to Standard Users?

Does anything get saved when a Standard user shuts down? If not, why not just power off?

This is what the installation looks like.

    EPILOG:
Definitely need the longer neck adapter item 184543194042. You need every millimeter of length to get contact with the QU talkback socket and clear the lamp. At least the GL2800 lamps I’m using. In a related note, the QU covers are woefully inadequate when it comes to accomodating a desk that’s been installed. They just don’t accomodate lamps, mics and all the cabling. For $90 I expected better. What a dull design. Not all that thrilled with the QU talkback design either. Meh.

Thank you for the followup Mike. Great article. I passed it on to my TD. I pulled the Y cables first thing today and ran my first event using only the left channel. The AR2412 won’t be in for a while so I’m getting by. Using its outputs to drive our mono PA, Fills and Subs is be a great solution for us. The ALT drives lobby speakers and being a knob instead of a fader is great ergonomics for us.

You mean one channel of ALT Out would carry L+R? Ditto any of the AR2412 outputs?

Thanks Giga. I had an XLR Y cable. It works. Need to make some more for Fills and sub. My TD wanted me to pursue something in the QU saying there might be phasing issues. I exhausted all my ideas. We only have a single line to the remote amps so doing it at the amp is not an option.

Oh that is great @mikec. I can use that capability right a way. Thank you.

Thanks all. It took a couple hours but I was able to come up with a scheme that works. I need to support different patching for different users. So 12 channels are local 1:1 but the rest can be configured local or dSnake.

@KeithJ: What is a “Double Patch”?

Ugh. But I can patch the AR2412 inputs as I please correct? No need for them to be consecutive?
