I think it has become obvious that A&H has no intentions of providing their own off-line editor or helping an outside developer such as JTrindle to make one available.

That is a shame. The QU platform is a good platform, but is sorely lacking that functionality. Im guessing that A&H is protecting their higher lines, but IMO are harming themselves overall, given the abundance of mixers out there like Soundcraft and Behringer that do have off-line editors at a similar price-point.

I have given up all hope…

I wasn’t aware that A&H was using a routable/switchable protocol on the dSnake. I thought Dante was the only one.
If the dSnake protocol does not fully support the TCP/IP stack, you can’t run it on a “LAN” or even a separate VLAN. Honestly, I’m surprised you got as much success as you did.

A&H got back to me – apparently their early versions of the mixer exhibited this behavior, and more recent versions have been changed so that does not happen. I guess I got old stock…

A&H offered a solution – to have A&H US or an authorized repair center apply some kind of “optional modification” to my mixer – at my expense – NOT a warranty repair, as there is nothing actually wrong, and as they maintain their position on not hot-plugging recommendation. A bit absurd, but I do not have the energy to fight city hall.

I have not taken the mixer in for the modification. I’m hoping the next SW release will resolve the problem. I would revert to an older version of the firmware where it was NOT a problem, but alas, there is no way to revert to an older version of the app on the iPad. Stuck between a rock (Apple) and a hard place (A&H). (sigh)

The good news is it does not happen when I use the AB168, so I do have a half-decent workaround.

The x32 platform is not your old Behringer.
Uli has come up with a great sounding board with lots of flexibility and at the time, a feature/price ration then unheard of. Lots of folks whose opinions I respect swear by them.
Be that as it may, I am enjoying the QU16. Things can always be improved, though.
I do wish A&H would break radio silence on this subject, however.

    Bang.
    No, not using a stagebox.
Before I buy a second QU as you suggested, I’d get a Soundcraft or Behringer which already have the offline editor.

Why does A&H pretend these are not “pro” boxes?

After another set of back-to-back festivals, I humbly renew the request for an offline editor for the QU platform. Those are busy times, many times with bands showing up with a scribbled stage-plot hour(s) before taking to the stage. How nice it would be to be able to build a scene for that band while mixing the band already on stage. The 10-15 minute changeover is tight enough without trying to set scribble strips, and pre-setting library settings.

The saying “A failure to plan on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part” just does not work. More like “The show must go on” regardless of the number of cats being herded.

Please consider this for near-future implementation. Sure would be nice…
