Onboard recording and playback would be great on a new ilive also a stand alone ilive surface that you can use with or without the idr stagebox a bit like GLD but an ilive needs to be fast with plenty of DSP power left for future updates without slowing it down
And perhaps a more sturdy metal build like GLD but in the T range.

I am looking to purchase a digital desk but nothing is perfect and I cant find what I am looking for in the current market
I think the old ilive is slightly dated in my opinion but still impressive and high on my list with the market moving so fast I am really hoping that my purchase will be Allen & Heath but an ilive 2 would be worth holding on a bit longer for.

If that’s the case then some of these new big touchscreen all in one PC’s could take away some surface sales

but wouldn’t it be better to up idr sales by giving away the app also some manufactures bringing out mini budget consoles where the ipad is the control surface wouldnt these small acts be better off with an idr16 and a free ipad app

Yes I agree more control was throwing me more to the GLD 80 than the R72
I am actually considering going the full hog and buying iliveT80
Its just such a massive decision

What I have heard on youtube GLD is a great mixer and well worth the money but

I have been researching digital mixers with intention to buy and although I think this looks to be about the best mid price mixer I am stalling till January 2013 to make the right choice
Allen & Heath is winning for me at the moment

Is it worth investing that little bit extra for an ilive system such as the R72 surface with a idr 16 or idr32 depending on needs
As the R72 is about the same price as the GLD 80 the only difference in price is in the stagebox’s

GLD 80 ticks alot of boxes

Would you buy GLD 80 over the ilive R72 or the other way round seems like an interesting decision obviously various stagebox options

The ipad wifi thing throws towards R72

More controls on surface pushes towards GLD
And maybe ipad app on the way

Sound quality and speed of system important heard GLD very fast

And control over system if engineer not available on smaller shows and venues where members operate their own pa

The lack of ipad app and especially the freeze problem are the main 2 reasons I havnt invested in a GLD yet I can live with trying to get usb sticks to work.

But could you please tell me as users are they really good and worth the leap to buy one especially with all those other choices out there

Thank You that is so helpful

I am pretty sure that the commands would be normal and pretty standard from most midi foot controllers.

This desk although everyone says it is well priced is alot of money for me to outlay as we have a small show but outside remote control is so important

I am just waiting so see if an ipad app will definately be on the way before I purchase
I cant afford an ipad as well as the desk but I just need to know for sure the app is on the way before I splash the cash on this desk
I Was going to order desk yesterday but waiting for that answer maybe next week now.

I am also looking at 2 other alternatives a company I just dont trust have just brought a desk out or a well known industry standard but I feel that maybe a mistake it’s so confusing the money needs to be spent right as this is a step up and a long term investment.

I will get ipad later in the year

Could any one tell me if I can run a midi controller footswitch from the midi in and out of the rear of the GLD 80 I just need to turn effects on and off with one

And also before I rush out and buy one of these desks is an ipad app definately on the way I heard rumours of December which would be ok for me

    thank you for your help
Is everyone happy with their GLD 80 ?
