I followed your directions explicitly and my boot time shrunk to 0:39 min. Great news. I then left the GLD at “DHCP Enabled OFF” and set my network numbers in the IP Settings and it also booted quickly. I am not sure what happened during the update to 1.61 but all seems to be operating in good order. It was acting like DHCP ON no matter where I set the option. It is possible I was not letting the console reboot when I changed DHCP on to off.
Let’s just assume I was not changing the settings properly. My bad….
Thank you for your guidance.
John2018/04/26 at 5:49 am #70628Still have the long boot time. Can anyone from A&H check in here?
2018/04/25 at 12:47 am #70595It would be almost impossible to utilize side chain on one-off gigs or festival situations. I require familiarization and practice time.

I believe you are correct about the Yammy TF not having it. That board is aimed at more beginner operators.John

I made a long post a while ago on how I utilize side chain dynamics. Reposting it here would not serve anyone well. Briefly, I use it more for finesse than for obvious effects. As of late I mostly have it bring down the guitars and keys by a few dB when vocals are present. Same with effect tails. Effects go undimmed when the vocal stops or gets quiet and breathy. Adds a lot interest. Can’t be done with older style compression. Keeps the focus on vocals which is paramount in praise music.
The only way to get side-chain dynamics with a GLD system is to add an expensive laptop, an expensive Dante card and run Waves software. That adds about $5000.00 to the cost of the board. That prospect is not attractive at all.

2018/04/22 at 11:01 pm #70549Any help on the boot time from Allen & Heath? I welcome suggestions. Should I down rev back to 1.51?
Thank you
2018/04/16 at 5:15 pm #70447Its difficult dealing with those types. As of late I just take the path of least resistance to get those people away from me.
2018/04/16 at 4:10 pm #70440I get stymied by lack of some common features though.

I thought the new effect provided was going to be of some use… meh.
Personally instead of another effect I would have liked side-chain compression. I’ll bet no one with a GLD was asking for that new effect. I know many were asking for side-chain. It would be easier to cross-patch the dynamics accumulators than to make that effect.
The GLD is in the process of entropy.
With V1.51 it booted quicker. I must say I am concerned about V1.61 long boot time. I hope it is just something I am overlooking.

2018/03/22 at 12:51 am #69805I too can confirm that the Zyxel 1100-16P works fine. But it has quite loud fan noise. Not an issue if you are doing loud-ish music but in a quiet setting it is really obnoxious.
