So you can put option cards in the mixer, think ACE card to connect to my iDR32… is that really possible?

Thank you A&H to make the systems talk to each other :-)

Let’s hope the price is good???

    Cheers,

    Gary.

I’m no expert on this and maybe wrong but would a xDR expander give you the extra port B you need for Dante? This is more expense to the system though

COPY OF ONE OF MY POSTS IN ANOTHER THREAD REGARDING DROPPED WIFI:-

With reference to Graham’s post the connection status suggestion is a great one, the other day this happened to me with a dropped connection and not realising it until nothing actually was changing.

At present in the utility > style tab you have colour options for background, border, disabled and text. Can another be added for lost connection so when wifi drops out the background changes to a chosen colour and when it reconnects reverts back to your normal chosen colour / appearence and if you don’t want this just set the ‘background’ and ‘lost wifi background’ the same settings. This would definately be quite obvious MixPad wasn’t connected and in my opinion the more obvious it is the better…

Also can the CH. (channel) and MIX buttons be one button with the default setting being CH. and you press it to enter MIX layout and the button turns red like the mute button to let you know your in the MIX dislay (even though this is pretty obvious) and you press it again to go back to CH. display. In other words one press toggles the view.

One less button would give enough room to have an extra tab for a SCene and sOFT key tab (SCOFT) and on this tab have the 8 soft keys as in the surface and the surface scene keys.

This may well also give enough room to have the “Custom 2” tab also available on the lower part of the screen rather than just upper part of the screen which would give a lot more flexibility of the MixPad in my opinion.

    Cheers,

    Gary.

I’ve done a few gigs using MixPad and Jump of various venue sizes upto about 400 people and have had no problems with MixPad freezing but I did when I first got the iPad until I messed around with my router settings. I think the router has a lot to do with people’s issues.

For me Jump is a workaround and I’m looking forward to a upgraded MixPad but I fear the iPad1 maybe at its limit for future upgrades which limits us iPad2er’s for future improvements unless there will be two versions.

I know some are looking for dual rack and xDR capability but selfishly as I only own a iDR-32 I would prefer to see more comprehensive custom layers and being able to drag a “Soft Key” strip into the custom layer. This would be the same size as the normal fader strip but with the fader and mute etc replaced by 8 soft keys the same as the surface. Obviously the soft keys can then be assigned to the functions the user chooses… tap tempo, mutes etc.

In editor and surface soft key set we already have scene recall, what about options for prev and next and showing in the button the scene name?

I also think the scene GO key should be two finger tap activated only to avoid any accidental touches!

    Cheers,

    Gary.

The background can be changed on MixPad under the utility screen and the style tab.
FWIW I’ve got the background set as ‘none’ and then the colour settings as follows:

    Background 0. , 0. , 0. , 255
    Border 0. , 255. , 0. , 255
    Disabled 255. , 0. , 0. , 255
    Text 255. , 255. , 255. , 255

Regarding adjusting FX parameters, I’ve been using Jump Desktop. It’s a great app that you can control an external PC from your iPad. The iPad2 will run both MixPad and Jump at the same time and you can use 4 or 5 finger sweep to go from one to the other.

The PC in control is perminately connected to my MixRack and stays on stage with the MixRack at all times (it’s my emergency PC if my router or iPad or remote PC all fail).

The stage PC is connected directly to the MixRack in one of the network ports and my router is directly connects to the MixRack in one of the other network ports. I can control the stage PC through the router and the MixRack seems to act as a switch.

With this set up i can adjust routing, ganging, scenes, FX etc from the iPad. You can even tap tempo but you need to make sure you don’t have any faders displayed on the PC your controlling otherwise the iPad can’t seem to do the metering and tapping at the same time if that’s makes sense?

    Cheers,

    Gary.

    Hi,

Would be nice to have a ratio control added to the gate to have the option of using it as an expander…

30km! Love it…! Quite fancy mixing a gig sat at home on the sofa. No more grief from the drunk girlfriend of the lead guitarist saying she can’t hear him!

From a selfish point of view I would rather see MixPad refined to run smoother and have soft key buttons for tap tempo and maybe scenes.

Also I’d like to see a dedicated monitor app for an iPad/Pod/Phone that a mix can be locked by the sound eng (an aux for example) so muso’s can adjust their personal mixes with out accidentally tapping out of their aux and messing around with FoH unbekown to them.

    Cheers,

    Gary.

    Hi Tyler,

With regards to elevating the router, my iDR 32 is mounted in a 8U case with a drawer for my emergency lap top. In the top face of the case I mounted a speaker pole socket. The router is Velcro’d to a speaker pole stand (the small plastic type you mount lights too) and this sits in the back of the rack when all pre wired up. When I get to gig, stick a speaker pole in the socket on top of case remove the router from back of case and place on top of speaker pole… Job done…

    Cheers,

    Gary.

Two Port B’s or is that a Port C ?

Duplicate network ports on rear of MixRack as plugs in the non neutrik style connectors seem a little vulnerable on the front and this would make racking it up with router etc easier.

Big +1 for the deeper but less RU size.

Lamp socket on the fixed format iDR’s.

Built in dedicated router that can be set up from editor with sockets for adding arial.

    Quieter fan.

Dedicated xDR expander port so Port B or C doesn’t have to be used.

    Cheers,

    Gary.

Jump started to work when I went into my router settings and messed around with port forwarding options, not really to sure exactly what I did but this definitely had something to do with getting it working.

The only reason I have my ’emergency’ laptop directly into the MixRack is so if the router goes down I still have control of the MixRack and Jump does work with this set up.

I really wish A&H would make a dedicated router for us iLivers so then they can publish in depth instructions on how to set it up as at the moment he only variable in each iLive set up is the router…

    Cheers,

    Gary.

Just thought I’d mention that Jump Desktop is doing exactly what I wanted it to do and thats to be able to flip between MixPad and remote editor screen with out any waiting. If you have both apps running (probably only iPad2) and you have the Multitasking gestures switched on you can 4 or 5 finger swipe between the apps so flipping between MixPad and remote editor without using the iPad button… so tap tempo and scenes all from the iPad!

Fantastic app and worth every penny!

    Cheers,

    Gary.
