    Hi Alex, thanks for the helpful information. It appears from you answer that I cant achieve what I want from a triggered gate on an input channel. Unless the support team can suggest a relatively easy way to output a control signal out from a QU series to external equipment I think I may be wasting their time?
    I’m trying to keep it simple, but I wonder if there 3rd party device’s that could take an audio signal from say an Aux-out or mix out and then convert that to a switch open/close function on rapid audio transients, also I’m going to see if I can find something that converts an audio pulse into a OSC or MIDI signal.

    Jim.

    De-Esser, Yes please; It helps a lot to have a built in one especially for Church and amateur user groups.

    If you really want/need to bring an external compressor signal into the QU, Let’s assume that you have a high end studio compressor; Then probably the only easy way to do this in a recording environment is to also add a good quality external preamp preamp ahead of your compressor (You’ll probably want to make some EQ control ahead of the comp too) You can then bring the external equipment signal chain into a suitable input of your QU; obviously loosing remote/software adjustment via computer based software. A friend of mine likes to do this, works Ok.

    Thanks Autofahrn, I was starting to realise that this was probably the case its a feature that I’m used too having on some Yamaha desks we use; I hope that A&H can implement it on the QU series too.

    A lot of this gets my vote; The QU series is potentially a very option for small/medium sized worship environments; but as a lot of Churches rely on less capable volunteers or pokey-joe (enthusiasts); Being able to offer greater degrees of lock-down control should benefit all including A&H sales.

    Personally, longer channel names and/Or channel memory names would help me; for instance on one act I work with the lead has different Eq settings for different parts of the show; another act also frequently changes Bass player, and being able to store more details of a stored channel purpose/which band member would be very helpful, even of of was just another 3 or 4 characters.

    It would sometimes assist with some stage work comedy/theatre stuff that I do too. Gets my vot.

    I should add that the above linked article on WiFi Router guide is helpful of A&H somehow I missed it on my first read of the replys. ..

    Hi all, Thanks for your input and thought on this and yes I agree some input from A&H in the form of some helpful technical product suggestions and a little WiFi research would help a lot of us make informed purchasing decisions.

    I have been doing a bit of my own research into suitable WiFi products too; I have a fair bit of RF technical awareness and know that a collection of mobile devices all trying to connect to a visible WiFi AP can potentially overload the onborad system of typical domestic WiFi access points etc, So I always hide the devices SSID And incorporate other tweaks like setting the security to allow connections to known MAC (hardware) address only.

    A few people have recommended the Stage Router by NowSonic, see https://nowsonic.com/en/products/live/stage-router/
    I could be very interested in this device for larger venues; but in smaller venues like bars/pubs often space is lacking and a smaller plastic Access point that I can tape/cable-tie to a nearby vertical surface or sit on a narrow ledge is my only easy option; I’m currently trying to find out if I can add external antennas to NowSonic device, so it is also a contender.
    In the past I’ve also used supposedly pro-grade APs from Zyxel and some higher end domestic Tp-Link products And I always seem to find that within just a couple of years the WiFi signal becomes intermittent even in areas with little other RF activity like our workshop or a in my own home. So I’d really like to own a couple of APs that are considered robust etc. .. I’m very tempted to try some of the suggested Apple products; I used to like Linksys products but I don’t hear much about their range these days.

    OK … I was right to feel stupid; Thanks for the clarification autofahrn; I hadn’t realised that it was the physical rotary encoder knob and not done on the touch screen (Like other 2 swith locations options in the GUI), I’d got my head stuck thinking that the rotary knob was only applied to value changes of a setting or scrolling through a list … Problem solved but a slightly clearer instruction on the user interface by A&H would have made by life much easier..

    Thanks for the reply guys; I’ve tried touch and hold over the rotary selector and pressing over the text legends to try change the switch postion but it just won’t happen, I’ve also very carefully read the user manual; I love the QU series never really had any major issues with them at all, but I’m so frustrated by such a minor detail;
    I guess unless someone else can offer any insight on this I’ll be off to talk to A&H support in the week.
