Hey there, i’ve tested a lot with Waves V3 on my C1500 and S5000, i also had just recently a Festival where I connected these two by waves to share the inputs from the main mixrack.

First of all: What Mac are you running and especially what network interface?
    https://www.waves.com/support/how-to-stream-audio-between-daw-and-soundgrid-interface
OS X users: New Apple computers featuring Thunderbolt 3 / USB-C connectivity should use one of the following qualified adapters:

Sonnet Solo 10G Thunderbolt 3-to-Ethernet Adapter
OWC Thunderbolt 3 10G Ethernet Adapter

I’ve got a Macbook Pro 2019 running Big Sur 11.5.2 – and only with the above ethernet adapter I get flwaless results!
For multitracking only i’ve set the “dLive to internal” clocking and the waves card settings on the computer to “digital” to get the clock from the card. Recording und multitrack playback works like a charme.
Make sure to use a STP or SSTP cable! UTP (not shielded) cable may not work! Also make sure not using an unsupportet Network-Switch – rather go directly from you computer to the card if no Waves server is needed!

When using two desks connected by waves – make sure to clock to a waves I/O! On the desks to your card slot and in the waves inventory select one waves IO as your Master and clock to this device “internal”!
2 Days of festival shows with 64shared inputs – without a single dropout!

I’m using a waves card installed in the I/O slot for that – works great!

Danke!

thanks Scott, I’m not talking about the DAW Software, I use Reaper by the way – as well a great tool! But I can’t do the Patch with this software.. so still need something like StudioOne, Superrack, ….?

I experienced as well if you change the showfile or change the mixrack settings (number of mtx channels etc) you should first restart the mixrack to make sure the custom control sends the correct information to the mixrack!

We just did a livestream festival show and for dialing in ambient miks it would be perfect using an expander!
If you‘re asking me – a gate with adjustable ratio would do it as well!

In a festival setup I use to save the festival-patch layout to a scene where I only recall the strip assign! So same for empty banks.. just safe your empty strip layout to a scene wirh recall filter only set for strip assign – done! One button and you get the empty banks!

Hey, same here! Just randomly hicks oder peaking noise!

Waves V3 in the C1500 Card Slot
    Cat5e or Cat7
    Minix Cat to USB-C
    Macbook Pro 2019 Touchbar
    500GB SSD, 8GB Ram, 2.4GHz i5 8th gen
SoundgridStudio – sync internal (also tried with digital)
highest Driver Buffer and latency (just recording and using it vor virtual soundcheck.. so don-t need any realtime!)
Recording with Reaper @96kHz also with matching Buffersize as set in Soundgrid Studio

Funfact – sometimes it works flawless with loads of Channels (>32) over many hours.. sometimes after 10min with just 8channels! Don’t know where to start with problem solving.. is this a WAVES Support call or an A&H Support Ticket?

Also tried with Multirack Soundgrid without using a Server – although with a valid license… first it seemed to work better, but still having the same issue!

Never changed Scenes during the recording or anything like that!

I recognised there is now a limited LowCut Filter up to 200Hz at the FX-Return-Inputs! Not able to expand this like you can at the normal input channels! If I load an older Showfile where the LowCut was set higher than 200Hz it still shows you this way in the window.. but as soon as you touch the Filter value it jumps down to 200Hz maximum! I don’t like to be limited by 200Hz.. or is there a reason why it has changed since last FW?

    Hey Wolfgang
Yeah you’re right! For first fix I used a Group where I assigned the MC to it and used this Group as trigger signal.
Just checked if the “global direct output routing” does affect this behaviour when using the MC Input channel as trigger: unfortunately not! Even if I set it to “post delay”: the mute botton doesn’t stop the signal feeding the sidechain!
@A&H: Is this an issue or does anyone else like to have it working like that?

    Kind regards from Switzerland

    Hey Rem!
What you need to know is: do you want to share the inputs from one room to play In the other room? If yes: you just need another I/O device such as AR84! But you need to know that if you have the 4 inputs from the adjacent hall, you need to process them in the qu-pac from the main Hall! At the AR84 you don’t have processing or any knobs!
