+1 plus I’d like to be able to do everything on the app as far as mixing as I can on the console. This is similar to the QUPad. Maybe we need a SQ Pac or similar product for this to be a reality.

Since I have 2 SQ mixers a sale would be nice but it would also be nice to be able to install on all of your registered mixers or at least the ability to transfer plugins between your own mixers if needed.

Could there be an option that allows you to change between mono/stereo in scenes? Maybe a preference setting? I get that you don’t want to have the audio interrupted when using scenes in a show. However, for 90% of my uses, it would not be a problem and it is a pain trying to remember to check wether channels are mono or stereo after recalling a scene. I supposed ganging would take care of it.

    Jeff,
Let me see if I get this correctly and will keep the example to something real simple. Say I have a stereo guitar plugged into 1&2 and a vocal plugged into 3 on a QU-PAC. I set the monitor channel for the guitar to 1 & 2 with a bar between. And the Vocal mic to monitor 3. If I understand you correctly, when I press 1 on the ME500 I will be able to control the stereo guitar on channels 1&2 and when I press 2 on the ME500, that is now connected to monitor out 3? I need to plug the system together and do some testing but I don’t think this is what was happening the first time I tested it. I believe that in this situation, the guitar was connected to Button 1 on ME500, button 2 did nothing, and button 3 was the vocal. I will test this again and see what happens. All stereo channels on the QU-PAC are of course assigned to odd-even channels or else they wouldn’t work as stereo channels on the mixer.

I am thinking about getting a SQ5 or 6 but wonder if the MixPad app will eventually have more functionality. I have a GLD80 plus a couple QU mixers and often choose to use the QU mixers based on the app having full functionality. Right now I’d place the app somewhere between the QU and GLD app. Will the app eventually be more like the QU app or do you consider this to be good enough? I really like that you can change the number of strips displayed at once but need to have control of effects. Or maybe there is more functionality while connected to a mixer that I don’t see in demo mode.

My question is very similar to cornelius78’s question except using a GLD80 and a SQ5. Can I connect the 2 mixers through the dSNake on the GLD80 (FOH) to a SQ5 SLink (monitors)? I guess if I need more inputs than 16, and wanted to plug in a 16 or 24 channel snake to the SQ5, then I would need an additional SLInk card?

I have the QU-PAC and was surprised I couldn’t assign a mix to a soft key. There are so many soft keys and I can’t figure out how I am supposed to use them all.

I agree. I hope Allen & Heath is working on updating the GLD ap.

I wonder if that would work for the QU-PAC?

Thanks. That makes sense. Or I could just rest the custom layer and be all good. Too bad I manually copied all the settings. At least I won’t have to do that again.

Not a problem with iPad as apps for other mixers are much more responsive. I understand the idea with tap and hold but it only seems to turn yellow about 50 – 60% of the time. The other complaint I had with the guest engineer was the ON button. He kept accidentally hitting that and turning the channel off. The location of the ON button is really easy to accidentally hit when trying to pan. I don’t understand why it even exists with a MUTE button. Seems to me that MUTE button would be enough.

Funny. Right after I submitted this post, when I browsed to QU forum I was still logged in and was able to post something. That is weird. I hope I don’t always have to post in this forum first to be able to post in QU forum.

I also find the iPad app extremely hard to us for the faders and graphic EQs as well. I haves used apps for Ls9, X32, Soundcraft Compact, and a few others and I have the most trouble with the GLD app. I do a lot of mixing and monitor mixing on iPads so improving the app would be high on my priority list. Even the app for the QU16 is more responsive and quite a bit more intuitive although it is still not as responsive as the app for other mixers. I could live with the app as it is if the faders would just move when you touch them without having to touch them just right until they turn yellow which often leads to them switching to mix mode. I kind of understand why they were programmed this way so you can’t accidentally move them but the target spot needs to be bigger.

I expect to use tape to label the mixer. But it would be nice to have channel labels for remote mixing with an iPad which is available on every other digital mixer I have used by Yamaha, Presonus, Soundcraft, etc. None of the have scribble strips. I also agree that when you recall a scene for a different gig, it is nice to know what each channel was used for. I also like to label my sends so I know which monitor should go where. I know I can write all this information down but I don’t think I should have to. Plus, if I am letting band members mix their monitors, I wouldn’t trust them to do it without channels being labeled.
