I believe the QU-32 mix outputs are the same dB and impedance as the headphone output. I wired two XLR females to a TRS male. I plugged the XLRs into a stereo mix output from my QU-32, plugged the TRS into a 50’copper snake and got ample output on the other end using 50 ohm phones. I run a QU-16 at church with this same arrangement, but I use a Sennheiser headphone amp, mainly as a protective buffer. I cannot comment on a digital snake which I cannot afford but lust for.
2016/05/22 at 10:14 pm #55971I’m using StudioOne 2 Artist and had recently bought a Qu32. I had the same problem. I wanted to train using songs I recorded with a StudioLive using Capture. I ended up running the songs into my Firestudio, running eight channels into the aux ports, and feeding eight analog signals into the Qu-32! Sad, isn’t it.
Now, I assume you’ve loaded the Qu driver into your computer, have hooked your Qu-16 to your computer, and configured your audio device as simply “Qu”in your Start screen in StudioOne. If you’ve done that, I also assume you have recorded songs off your Qu-16 onto your computer (The reference manual is fairly straightforward in that part). The trick in getting the songs back is in picking something that looks like your Qu-16. Go to the Start page, New Song. Scroll down to the 16.4.2 mixer, click on it. I did that with the 32 channel mixer in StudioOne, and it worked, thanks to a nice man from PC Sound in Washington, NC who opened up the store two hours early to show me this trick. Apparently, StudioOne doesn’t care what’s on the other end as long as the channel count matches up with what you have. I figure you prefer the feel of the sliders, touch screen and Super strip to mixing in the box. I do.Ed

2016/03/23 at 1:41 pm #54716The new firmware allows groups to be used as stereo mix outputs. On a Qu-24 that would be a max five stereo mixes and on a Qu-32 that would total seven stereo mixes.

I just bought a Qu32, and the SKB is my next purchase when I can afford it. I see the doghouse is huge, enough to place a laptop on it. Now that you have had it some time, how does it work on the job? My biggest concern is blockage of the thermal vents. As you know, there aren’t any cooling fans in the Qu, and I’m afraid it would overheat quickly and shut down if the vents were obstructed. How has that worked out? I also noticed in the attachments you have dedicated eight channels to drums. I use Glyn Johns (sp?) method, which requires four mics, but might go with more once I realize I have 32 channels to work with instead of 16.
