Use Onsong with MIDI. Much, Much easier. Dont ever have to rearrange scenes.

Okay, that makes sense. For multitrack using the Direct outputs, Are they Pre-fade? Normally in a multitrack environment each channel would be recorded at their optimum level where you can properly mix down to stereo.

Can they be Pre or Post fade?

    Regards,

    Dwayne.

Adding volume to a low signal is not the answer, doing this will add noise…

    garyh et all

When conducting normal gain staging in a live environment it is true that all input channels are nominal, however in actuality when mixing each channel/instrument is not at it’s highest level. A song would not have all of the vocals at the same level, i.e. harmony would be lower, etc. Is there an easier approach to getting an appropriate amplitude? Stereo, multi-channel, Live or Not?

    Thank you!

The Recorded level is way to low… When the source is low, amplifying it will only add noise. How do we more accurately set recording levels so that we have appropriate amplitude?

    Thank you.

    Hi Alex,

Does this work for QU-16 too? Not really clear yet. And if you are playing live and would like to record it is not often that you have the L&R slider at nominal. Is this the problem when recording stereo L&R? And… If you are recording multi-channel for virtual sound check or recording it isn’t a reality that each individual channel slider is at nominal. How do we overcome this simply?

    Thanks Alex.

Are we serious? We have to have a work around for something that is supposed to be a part of the operation of the unit. I know this is an older post but is there a better solution here?

Thank you in advance for any insight.

I have the A&H DAW Control Driver in memory set to QU, MIDI Channel 2, Mackie Control, MIDI Ports, QU-16 MiDI & QU-16 MIDI In. On my custom layer I do see data being sent though as the status bar display shows activity. I also can record, and playback tracks from Ableton, and use QUPad from my ipad.

I do not see the “MIDI Thru mode”. I am using a Windows-7 PRO Laptop and I do not see a through mode on the driver config.

    Hi Alex,

Yes I am connected by TCP/IP for standard MIDI messages. There is however a USB connection for DAW midi Channel (Which is 2 in this case). As I understand it the only MIDI information that uses the MIDI over USB is for DAW control. All other MIDI traffic uses MIDI Channel 1 over TCP/IP.

    MIDI CH = 1
    Change Input Channel 1 = DR_Vox

    Sysex Header = F0, 00, 00, 1A, 50, 11, 01, 00,
    A&H Ref: 03,
    Input Channel 1 = 20,
    Hex ” DR_Vox ” = 44, 52, 5f, 56, 6f, 78,
    A&H Ref: F7

    Sysex Message
    F0, 00, 00, 1A, 50, 11, 01, 00, 03, 20, 44, 52, 5f, 56, 6f, 78, 7F

Do you see any problems with my logic?

    Thank you.

    Hi Alex,

When I download the sheet it looks good.

However, when I change any of the variables “Qu Midi”, or “Qu CH” we get an error.

    Please see attached.

    Regards,

    Dwayne

An easy workaround would be to use an iPad to recall specific scenes by MIDI Location. This way you never have to change the order of the Scene’s. I Use OnSong for Lyrics and other info, however it will also automatically recall Scene’s based on the song I select.

    hope this helps for options

Hi Keith… This would be a great spreadsheet, however Sheet 2 is missing, so if you change any of the perimeters you get an error. Do you have the complete Spreadsheet with all of the pages?

    Thank you.

Is it me or are there no contributors who will actually give an example of an external midi request to change a scene? I’m a new person to all this, and frankly I’m at a loss as to the lack of real applied info on this topic. The doc’s are detailed and confusing.

Would anyone please direct me to a quick solution?

External Program: OnSong -> Send Midi “Recall Scene” -> QU-16 (w/latest firmware)

The Samsun T5’s have the 3.1 USB now… Will they still be comparable?
