I have been using this usb sticks for the last months and they work flawless. No errors. You have about 90 minutes on each, recording 16 channels; https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DZPUOTE/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06__o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I have also used these successfully for years.

    Mike…

I have always maintained that once you understand how to use an FBX unit as a PEQ, you can simply use any PEQ such as those already available in digital consoles these days to do the same job as well as or better than auto-EQ/FBX programs…without the downside such units bring with them.

One significant problem with incorporating FBX in mixers is that the function is placed on the outputs and is not available on a per channel or per bus basis. Thus, a single problematic input will trigger removal of program material from the entire mix.

You have now let your system be controlled by the weakest link in the signal chain rather than addressing the problem at the source. But if you REALLY need this function, it can be added as I described earlier. I prefer to ask for improvements/upgrades which can ONLY be added in the software and are not amenable to simply adding the appropriate outboard.

    Dear John…

“Feedback suppression” programs may seem useful, but if you actually learn how to properly deploy and tune your system it’ll sound better and alleviate the need for such sonic crutches which degrade the sound at the expense of convenience.

My sincere is that if you really want such a feature, purchase the speaker management unit and of your choice and do the auto-zapping there. You’ll get the additional benefits of speaker protective limiting, alignment delay and more.

Check page 27 of the User Manual regarding channel names, scenes and preferences.

    John…

Did you download and install the Windows driver? Mac works out of the box, but PC requires another driver.

    Phil…

WiFi and such work well for remote rooms, but for in-room/real-time RF is the only way to go. Folks who need hearing assist are already dealing with one issue. Adding latency to that is not a good idea.

In every church install I’ve ever done it had to be built-for-the-purpose gear like the Listen Tech.

If the “artist” insists, I’d grab one of my analog mixers, run the mic into it, use the channel insert and then feed the sub-mixer signal to the 32. But…

I’d also split the signal from the mic into both boards so I’d have a clean track as well as the “designer” track.

Luckily, I’ve been doing this since before the advent of digital consoles and still have lots of good analog gear laying around.

I’d be concerned about the possibility of damage to your console if you continue to use both channel inputs. The user info says not to use both and warns of signal degradation and the possibility of damage.

    Good luck.

    OK…

    1. There are no “send/return” insert jacks on A&H digital consoles. The 1/4″ jack above the XLR is a line level input and does not send out any signal.

    2. The “insert” icon on the screen is for return routing of the onboard FX of the Qu, nothing else.

    3. It is not standard practice to apply any dynamic processing or FX during tracking as you cannot remove as/if needed during mix-down. Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) is to record the tracks “dry” and use any required dynamic processing, EQ and FX to the “pure” tracks later.

I think your English is fine. If you have a problem it would seem to be inexperience.

Good luck. Keep your tracking clean…

What was the outboard unit? What stage of the recording process were you in? Tracking, mix-down???

    So far not enough information…

Ideally, your mixer output and your amp (or powered speaker) input should clip at the same time/voltage. So how do you set this up?
How to set up your powered CV’s for optimum output:

With your amp or powered speaker turned all the way “down” and powered off:

    1. Play a representative recording through your mixer, setting the channel input gain with peaks no higher than +6dBvu or the equivalent -12dBfs.
    2. Raise the channel fader to “0” (unity).
    3. Raise the master fader until the output meters flash red, then back off until only the highest peaks go red. If you can’t get this to happen, raise the channel fader 6dB above unity and try again.
    4. Now with the mixer passing signal at the maximum output voltage and the input sensitivity (volume/level) of your amp or powered speaker all the way down, power up and raise the input level until the amp/speaker clip lights begin to flash. With a power amp and passive speakers you can simply disconnect the speakers and do it quietly. With powered speakers you’ll probably want to wear ear protection.

You now have set up your system for safe operation right up to its design max output…with the caveat that sizing an amp to passive speakers is critical. But that’s another discussion.

This should give you at least twice the level you’re currently getting…if not more.

I have 2×15 tops mounted on 2×18 subs, both cerwin vega 700RMS and all set at unity input.{snip} With that much console output and power on PA, I still struggle to get 95dB at front row 3m away from the speakers…

Something is wrong here, and I suspect it’s simply that you’re not driving the speakers to their design potential.

Exactly what model of CV tops and subs do you have?

Don’t hold your breath waiting for a complete re-engineering of the Qu line. Just use the QuPad app to control the SB and feed a couple of stems back to your 24 via the Matrices. That’ll do what you need, but basically you’re looking at using a sub-mixer to expand your channel count. How you configure your system to use it is up to you.

    John…

The work-around I use is to use two iPads. I had been carrying a spare on jobs just in case and found that using both allowed me six Custom layers and any two Custom layers simultaneously.

I’m happy with six and would not care to go back to four…
