2016/06/14 at 10:43 pm #565931. copy the original channel, paste it to the new fader ie. copy a1, paste to c3
-or-
2. select the “new fader” channel, make its input the original channel ie. select c3, go to preamp, make the source a1Make sure the new channel is routed to the desired destination, check dca routing, etc.

You are confusing a thinly veiled (Yamaha) discount program with a nonexistent “trade-up” or trade in (you get to keep your LS9) or a “trade-up” program (Digico) that was offered in October of 2012, with no specifics…
Yamaha is offering their program for the simple reason that sales are low, and the LS9 ownership requirement is their marketing scheme to involve previous customers. Think about it: everyone who doesn’t own an LS9 is left out! Not a good plan to attract new customers. If their sales were good on these mixers, this “loyalty” discount program would not exist!
Understand that Yamaha and Digico are fine companies with first-rate products, but the plan of offering ongoing and free improvements to the mixers (Allen & Heath iLive, and now Behringer X32 series) has proven to be of more value to customers than an occasional marketing discount scheme.

The only consoles in the entry price level that I am aware of that are phase coherent THROUGH THE MIX BUSSES are the x32/m32 series from Music Group. I have no info on the just announced/released models from Allen & Heath, Yamaha, Avid, Roland, Digico, etc., but on most digital consoles, paralleling a signal through different “length” pathways (ie., #1 straight to LR, #2 through a mixbuss then to LR) introduces latency which causes the “phasing” effect on the signal, which is most noticeable in the higher frequencies, such as vocals…) I learned this in 2006 on an LS9.
Even the x32/m32 will suffer this problem if an effect or signal processor such as EQ is INSERTED on one of the paths of a split signal.

The APC Back-ups mentioned by Andreas is perfectly fine. I started using an APC desktop model about 7 years ago after an unfortunate unplugging incident with my LS9, and have used the APC 500 VA units on my T112/idr48 and R72/idr32 since, 500 +- shows. I perform the “pull the cord” test 2-3 times a year and have NEVER seen any of the consoles as much as blink. It’s important that you pull the cord once a year or so and make sure the power maintains for at least 5 minutes, as a failing battery can often handle battery output for a few seconds and then cease.
Real world experience, not conjecture.

2015/01/07 at 2:37 pm #44363How about the real thing? I’m selling an R72/idr32 system, I’m ready to accept an offer. I don’t take lowball offers personally, you won’t insult me! US sale only…
