Similar question – will it work with Avantis? Is this something in the works?

Agreed – Just today I noticed that the Director app shows 1/10’s of dB on the gain when adjusting it there (which is nice to do on the touchscreen). I was surprised that the gain was at 10.8dB, since the console says 10dB (rounding to whole numebers). It’s generally not a big deal, but I have found myself with trim/gain/compressor settings etc being frustrated that I can’t get to an exact 0dB or some other exact point, and then it turns out that using an ipad you can get it there (or at least closer)!

Agreed. This would be helpful. Similarly, when saving the scene (at least from a soft key), it flashes the number across the top, but not the name. Just seeing the correct name would give me some peace of mind.

Agreed, the EQ controls is a “slow down” point on this console, which I don’t love. I am starting to get used to the horizontal eq, but I really wish that the frequency was directly next to the gain knob for each band (instead of having the q in between); even this small change would make it easier and faster to use.

Thanks for pointing out that there is a Feature Request forum – I noticed it after posting this. I’ll copy this over to that location.

Clock & Current Scene! Yes please!

Or as suggested – configurable, choosing 1-2 options out of a list on what to display.

Agreed! I also come from Digico and was quite disappointed when setting up and using soft keys (on Avantis). Not only do I really miss stacked functions on one button, but I also miss the wide array of choices that I would expect to find but didn’t. I get that maybe stacking functions is not a simple change to make, but there could be a lot more options of what to add to softkeys…

I have this exact same issue! It would be nice to have a “lock” button for individual scenes.

This is the way I am use to it working on Digico consoles, and so working in my smaller venue with an SQ makes it really tough to not have this option! (Yes, I understand they are not in the same league…)

I am having what I think is the same problem – the only option for “scene store” on a soft key stores to the current scene. There is no option to store to a “next scene” from soft keys. However, when in the scene manager portion of the touchscreen the “store” button stores to whichever scene is highlighted (i.e. “next”) NOT the current scene, unless you have highlighted the current scene. I would like a soft key to behave this same way; since I have many people using the console, I have them load a template scene, but I want them to store to a new scene, not to accidentally overwrite the template which is most certainly going to happen a lot as it currently stands!

Second request: can we have a way to lock out a scene so that it can’t be stored over accidentally? (Either without unlocking, or without admin privileges.)

As a follow up, I spoke with an A&H employee at NAMM about this today. He said that it is very possible to add the “blend” control to the LCR bus since the dLive already has this feature; however, they have not decided yet if they will add it to the Avantis console. They are playing to the market and so prioritizing which features should be added based on demand; he said this decision can be swayed by people requesting this feature. They take both Facebook comments and the Feature Request forum seriously and give the most value to the ones with higher thumbs up counts and response rates/interactions. So, if you would like this as well, go on over to the Feature Request forum and like/respond to my post about it.

Thank you Robby for starting this on soft keys. I would add the following:

    Soft Keys:
    – Apply (enter)
    – lock/unlock the master strip (4 faders)

    – The ability to assign Talkback to more than one aux on the same softkey (i.e. turn it on/off in all wedges).

I’m bummed that no one from A&H has responded – however, I found the answer in the recently posted user guide (pg 44) copied below. I am quite bummed that the LCR doesn’t have “percentage” panning as most other LCR busses do. It doesn’t help me to not be able to have something panned center in LR also (at specified amount, not just LR+M). https://www.allen-heath.com/media/Avantis-Firmware-Reference-Guide-V1.00.pdf

    3. Main – Select one of 5 modes of Main mix:
    • None – No Main mix, for example dedicated monitor mixing with a large number of Aux mixes.
    • LR – Standard stereo Main mix.
    • LR+Msum – A stereo Main mix with additional output which is the mono sum of the pre-fade, pre-processed LR mix. For
example to feed a mono delay speaker or zone.
    • LR+M – A 3-way main mix with independent stereo LR and mono M busses. Channels can be separately assigned to any
combination of LR and M. Typical application for M is main centre speaker, mono PA or bus-fed sub bass.
    • LCR – A 3-way main mix with LCR panning. Each channel can be panned from left, through centre to right. At mid pan, full
signal is fed to M and none to L and R. Stereo channels feed the LR mix only.
