Just noting that iOS11 is very close to happening – most likely middle of September unless Apple doesn’t release iOS11 at the same time as there upcoming Keynote!

2014/11/05 at 9:41 pm #42748Thanks for the idea Nicola. Will have to add that to the possibilities. It surely solves the Library management issue. I’d have to think through what that means if we started using scenes during the service, but those could be built off of this specific Sunday’s “first/starting scene” that set the drumkit up.
2014/10/18 at 2:45 pm #42306The links are interesting and I have read up on the Opto compressors. Steffen, the effects link is great – doesn’t cover the Opto setting, but a link I didn’t have stored away yet.
Anyways, I will do some testing soon. I am installing the GLD at a church with limited audio expertise. We use the manual compressors and adjusted as needed. I am worried that they may have difficulty once I leave so I will test the Opto setting and if it sounds acceptable, I will se that and minimize settings for them to worry about. Also I will use the security settings to limit access too…
Thanks again for the help.

2014/10/03 at 5:01 pm #42001I haven’t had time to checkout the mono sum technique. if I have gain control of the mono sum and it does not consume any additional buses vs. a LR and mono matrix, then either works and I would probably do the mono sum technique. I just need time to go through all the options. We never got close to the bus or output socket limits before so going through all these possibilities is new to me.
Can only the LR Mono signal be assigned an output socket and not the LR buses?
2014/10/03 at 2:25 pm #41983Right now I plan to set up with a normal LR output and use a mono Matrix to feed the main speaker system. The two LR sockets will be used to feed the video recording computer. That way I can maintain a good board gain structure and adjust Main speaker gain separately with the Matrix depending on the mood of the service. This keeps the recording in stereo. With the use of Direct outs, I still have several matrix outputs available for foyer, nursery and front fill feeds.
I visit the church I am working with tomorrow to document all of their existing connections and will no much more about the setup.
2014/10/03 at 11:44 am #41978I have 40 already with 24 available output sockets. That will be enough and that is it for their budget. Right now they will all be a FOH utilizing existing snake. Someday they can be moved. Thanks.
2014/10/03 at 1:55 am #41972AWESOME – didn’t think about that. I have 24 output sockets so this buys me 4 more outputs and yes, some of the Aviom channels are just single “channels” like click, kick, snare, organ and possibly several more….
And that folks is why this forum is awesome!
2014/10/02 at 11:51 pm #41967Everyone – thanks. I am trying to reduce the # of outputs and of course a thorough understanding of the options allows me to come up with “possibilities”. I can definetley see that I could reduce a few AVIOM channels. Also, I could play games with panning and just use a L,R Main even though it is a mono system, pan everything center basically, but then I give up the quality of the recording feed…. It is all about options. I could argue that with the iPad app, I could give everyone a dedicated monitor channel on the Aviom (basically using the Aviom as a headphone amp – using the existing cabling). And yes, the A-16 does not work on the network – it was discontinued 10 years ago by Aviom. Upgrade to Aviom A-16 II could be an option. ME’s would be awesome but most likely outside the budget.
So, I have the info I need for options….
THANKS
2014/04/22 at 5:13 pm #39255+1 Dante, +1 Reaper, +1 Mac Mini (although we use Mac pro laptops), +1 on second drive to record to (we use Firewire 800 to external, bus powered drives). We setup a User Account on the Mac just for recording. That account is a minimalist account as far as anything else going on in the OS. We also turn off all wireless (Bluetooth, WIFI). Have recorded vast amounts of audio, one session had 50 channels (added mains, and some matrix outs and we were maxed out on channel count). We usually use to laptops for critical events (you can set up the GLD Dante to not use the secondary Dante port as a redundant port) and we also have gone to three laptops through an appropriate Ethernet switch based on the Dante requirements for a network switch.
Also, for critical events, everything (GLD, AR’s, network switch, computers) is on several UPS’s. Don’t want an accidental plug kicked out of an outlet…

2014/03/19 at 9:38 pm #38402Putting on an Ethercon with shielded cable and stranded conductors has been a bit of a challenge for me at first (and still is). Getting those wires in the correct area for the crimp is tricky. Takes patience. The shielded cable with stranded wire makes it a bigger challenge then solid wire…
Anyways, the first one was a mess but worked. The second one I made looks great. I will redo my first one someday soon.
Proper tools are cheap and easy to work with.
2014/03/18 at 5:15 pm #38371Hmm here is the link. I must of done something wrong in my last message:

2014/03/18 at 5:14 pm #383702014/03/12 at 5:07 pm #38217This really sounds like a speaker management processor issue or connection between the speaker management to amplifiers OR blown speaker drivers or…..
Agree with hooking up a stereo source (small analog mixer or even a sound source (ipod etc.) to XLR connector fed directly into the speaker management system….
