Thanks guys. As I had updated the iPad and then it quit working, I assumed that was the culprit. Troubleshooting rule 3: what did I work on last?
(for those that have not heard my rules: 1: is it turned ON? 2: is it plugged in?)
Andreas, your comment that yours was alive & well with V1.82 and you had updated the iOS sent me back to the drawing board. I will now admit my mistake …. hoping that others might learn from my boo boo and not suffer the same fate:
It works better when you plug the desk into one of the data ports, not the WAN port. As the iPad connects as normal to the wifi router, it is easy to blame Apple.
As Homer Simpson would say: D’Ohs
2016/04/30 at 3:39 pm #55361I have downloaded and reinstalled the QuPad app. No change.
Tested my older IPad Air, also QuPad 1.81, with iOS 9.3.1, same failure mode.I’d suspect my wifi router but the iPad connects to it, as it always has.
2015/04/22 at 2:02 am #47259“Iām still using V1.5 and the reset works there.”
I suspect that “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” applies here?

Keep the conversation rolling! I, for one, am enjoying it immensely. I’ll read what you both have to say, then take from it what I want and incorporate it into my own sound reinforcement cognitive schema.
2015/04/01 at 4:11 pm #46494I’ve had the same issue with the QU’s USB-B port connecting to the ASIO Driver under Win 8.1. Had to reboot the Qu before it would show up in the driver. I figured it would be more typical to have the QU powered up BEFORE the PC loads the driver to get it recognized.
2015/03/31 at 7:45 pm #46464Yes, I made a short duration multitrack recording and played it back prior to posting.
2015/03/31 at 7:34 pm #46458I’m currently using a San Disk Cruzer Fit 32. Seems to work well, both playback and record. The hard part is keeping track of it if you remove it from the board ; ) Cost about $15 US.
Also worthy of note: the Qu is a USB 2.0 interface NOT 3.0, so I would expect issues with backward compatibility with some 3.0 devices.

IMHO: Till I hear from Nicola I will continue to cringe ever time I press a Q’s button with my hand position causing a resistance to a fader’s movement. I’ve dealt with actuators my entire life, and except for systems using a slipper clutch, no good can come from offering resistance to an actuator unless it was designed to do work. At the price point of a Q the fact that it has motorized fader’s at all is unbelievable.
2015/02/24 at 1:01 am #4555312 months ago I was new to digital mixers, the Q16 being my first. I feel like I am only now beginning to learn the intricacies of the Q and digital mixer workflow. Scenes recall is certainly a powerful feature, but you hardly need to implement it before learning the enormous number of other features now available to you (that were either outboard equipment or not available) on an analog mixer.
Also, I’m a big fan of the KISS Principle.2015/02/21 at 5:51 pm #45502As in my former life in the aviation technologies discipline, in audio there is a lifetime of knowledge to be gained. Unfortunately, I only have a few years to try to acquire it. Many thanks to all of you for your comments, feedback and guidance.
The musician did finally contact me before the gig. I did follow his requests, and he knows exactly what he is doing. He was using his own single AT clip on with a wireless in his pocket to a receiver on the floor into his DI … Where I picked up the signal.
Splitting the money channel to FoH and monitors makes perfect sense. Unfortunately I was already limiting drum mics because of maxed out channel count. I was thinking about the necessity of a QU24 or more for this type of gig.
I received lots of “sounds great” comments from the folks that contracted me and the band was happy, so I’m putting it in the successful gig column.
Dick, it WAS a zydeco band
2015/02/19 at 4:03 pm #45439Thanks for the responses … They are providing the food for thought I needed. He want’s a DI for the accordion, so I’ll contact the musician to get answers to my/your questions.
He was concerned that a 10 inch monitor would not provide the high level of sound he wanted to hear the accordion, but said OK when I told him it was a QSC Q10. From previous experience (voice and violin, no accordion) I know he likes his monitors really loud.
So EQ’ing it I’ll start flat and see how it goes.2015/02/10 at 11:13 pm #45211So far it sounds like I’m the new kid on the block. I started my sound reinforcement business a couple of years ago, after working part time for a couple of the local providers for a year. This following a 36 year career in aircraft maintenance and avionics. I still fly my trike, but the regulation and liability in aviation is very cumbersome.
The QU16 is my first digital mixer, following a MixWiz. I’m in pursuit of a DAW that will run ProTools 11 without locking up š Thank you too all of you who routinely share your hard earned knowledge on this forum.

2015/02/09 at 8:23 pm #45166So is it really worth changing to a Mac after a lifetime of Windoze? I’ve been researching a new windows build (I’ve built many) but it may just be easier to take a bite out of the apple. Any if so, what is a minimum MacBook that can successfully run PT 11. Thanks for any suggestions.
john2015/02/08 at 2:03 am #45101Thanks to all four of you for your feedback to WING2015 ; ) While I did not pose the question, the topic is one I always ponder.
This is the type of dialogue I wish I could have with someone live and in person so you guys are educating me in the ways of live sound. Again, a sincere thank you.
