    Basically…

    I give up then.

I have literally spent a week of my time trying to get this to work.

I assumed I was the issue here as fairly new to this.

A note on this needs to be included in the manual as that’s the go to spot when setting up (not Knowledge bases)

Hi, I only just saw your reply thanks.

Yes, I have v1.6 DAW Drivers installed and managed to add the SQ as a ‘device’. I need to fire it up again and will try to describe exactly where I’m getting stumped.

I meant to add ..it’s a Windows based system.

I”m really struggling getting my SQ6 and Studio One DAW talking. This bit of Keith’s description really threw me…where is that actually configured? I’m trying to add the SQ6 by ‘Adding Control Surface’ in Studio One

“…there is an option to add an MCU controller and it all works as I would expect.
You just need to add up to 4 controllers connected to the 4 DAW Control Driver ports, then add these to the same group (by clicking the ‘placement’ button).”

    Yes,

It’s all clear now. I just have the SB already and thought it might work as a backup to the real thing (which it sort of can). DX168 is really the go here.

The QU-SB is a good value unit that’s for sure.

    Hi,

That’s a great point. So to control the QU-SB would mean firing up the QU App plus router. No thanks.

SQ still nerds deducated stage box then…

Looks like this mounted in the SKB shallow case.

Clarification on my first post, this SKB case does indeed fit.

    https://www.skbcases.com/music/products/proddetail.php?f=&id=791&o=&c=114&s=

Another member contacted me to say they had good luck with one so I ordered it (even though the dimensions stated suggest it won’t fit). It’s a great case for the QU-SB but premium price.

It’s still deep enough that the unit doesn’t get front heavy/’tippy’ like the first one I tried.

Regards the Android QU app, when I tried it I couldn’t access the FX library and some other features. Was I missing something obvious?

Personally, I do find this sort of thing useful …if you’re bringing in simple rig to do a ‘pub rock’ band, you do a basic scene at home as there’s usually no time for mucking around during setup. You can tweak as you go along but if you are pressed for time then even little thing helps in my opinion. For a longer term setup, Yes… I’d start from scratch.

Re. my post above, the QU has a 12dB/octave HPF and not 18dB.

It’s got a bit complicated as my tops (RCF TT25a ii) only have a 100Hz HPF whereas the sub I plan to order this week (RCF 8004) has LPF at either 80Hz or 120Hz. I’d prefer if the TT25’s had a 80Hz option. The rooms it will be used aren’t very big so the tops have plenty in reserve. So I was going to use the QU-SB HPF to mimic an 80Hz LPF or thereabouts. The rig will only used in a couple of different pubs and I should (hopefully) be able to the tops and sub to hopefully integrate well after a few trials, test tones and listening.

Feel like I’ve derailed thread a bit. Every days a school day for me anyway..

    Hi,

    Regards this one:

“The Mix feed to the sub can be setup to ignore any HPF settings on the original input channels.”

I think the confusion had come from what was discussed in this thread. https://community.allen-heath.com/forums/topic/hpf-channel-settings

Band will only be using one mix feed and that’s for the sub (band doesn’t use monitors) so had planned to use the ‘Post Preamp’ setting in the ‘Direct Out Global Settings’ menu.

A bit of a fudge really.

Thanks for that link. It’s made me rethink a few things. Running the sub aux Send at unity gain is a great tip.

I think the HPF on the QU are 18dB/Oct so closer to the 24dB typically used in proper loudspeaker processors.

I’m really trying to avoid using a processor to keep the rig as simple as possible…pub rock!

    Hi,

Reading this thread with interest as just about to try out the sub aux Send option this weekend.

Regards using the GEQ to simulate a HPF on the main LR output why not use the actual HPF available on each channel? More time to setup but surely more effective.

The Mix feed to the sub can be setup to ignore any HPF settings on the original input channels. I plan to do it that way and only use the LPF on my active subs. I’m only using a single sub to take a bit of the load off the tops so they will be running down into the same region as the Sub save maybe the last 30Hz (it’s for Pub Rock so not super critical). My tops only have a 100Hz HPF and so need it to be more like 80Hz..

Also, when you setup a DCA to control the level of the LR and sub Mix, would you just put that fader into the Custom 1 layer say to the left of the main LR fader. You then ignore the main LR fader on the right hand side of the screen (unless you want to adjust the relative LR and sub levels)
