    Hi selfmade,

You shouldn’t need a switch between your Dante card and your computer. One Cat5 or Cat6 cable should be fine.

    Perhaps you could check a few things;

    – Is DVS (Dante Virtual Sound Card) switched on? I know that sounds silly to ask, but the ON switch is sometimes not noticed by some of our users (including myself!). It’s a green or grey circle in the middle of the DVS window.

    – Have you set your laptop to DHCP? If your computer is on a static IP address, it probably won’t be able to fully communicate with the Dante module. Unless you’ve changed your Laptop IP address, it’s probably set to DHCP.

    – Do you see anything on the Dante Controller software? Does at least the mix rack Dante card appear? As the Mix Rack Dante Card and your Laptop should appear as separate devices. If not, could you please check if any LEDs are flashing on the front of the Dante module.

    – Can you also confirm your laptop network port is gigabit. If you’re unsure where to find this out, please let me know what Operating System you’re running (Windows XP, 7, Mac etc) and I’ll be happy to give you further details.

I hope these points help us get to the bottom of things, hopefully these things won’t be ideas you’ve already tried.

Let me know how you get on,

    AndyH

    Hi Detonator,

I am sorry to hear that you had difficulty understanding the one of the Dante Training Videos.

To make sure you understand everything that was said, I am e-mailing you a copy of the script. As it is a bit too long for a forum post.

    Hope that helps,

    AndyH

    Hi Noeme,

Which event log codes are you referring too? We have several messages in the event logs (such as devices connecting and scenes being recalled). We would need to know what event log messages you are getting before we can help to explain them.

If the event log messages are errors, we would recommend you send them to our Technical Support department. Please see a link below:

    https://www.allen-heath.com/uk/support/Pages/support.aspx

Sorry I can’t be much more help without more information,

    Cheers,

    AndyH

    Hi All,

We don’t have any documentation over the XML show files; as we never designed these files to be viewable or editable by a user.

If you want to have a look at the scene contents inside of a show, you can expand your show using the ‘USB Scene Transfer’ function in the Utility page on your surface (or known as ‘Scene Import/Export’ in iLive Editor).
Or recall the show Offline in iLive Editor to preview each scene’s content.

If you want the ability to generate a report into the differences between two scenes, I could add this onto our software suggestion list if you like.

    Hope that helps,

    AndyH

    Hi Moses,

It sounds like hardware to me, rather than software.

It would be best to contact your nearest iLive Service Centre to get the issue resolved.

If you are unsure where the nearest one is, you can contact our Technical Support by going to our Support Centre:

    https://www.allen-heath.com/uk/support/Pages/support.aspx

    Hope that helps,

    Hi All,

    Many questions have been raised and answered already, but I’ll try and pick out a few that haven’t yet been answered;

In answer to H2_entertainment’s 1st post:

WPA vs MAC Filtering: Either is acceptable security. Both protect your WiFi from other people connecting to it. We recommend using either, but it’s often easier to start with WPA (not WEP if possible).

iPad Standby: You will often find the WiFi has been lost if the iPad goes to sleep, so to always have iPad control we recommend switching your iPad standby to ‘never’.

2.4Ghz and 5Ghz Wireless: 2.4Ghz is usually better than 5Ghz when it comes to line of sight. 2.4Ghz usually copes better if you have less or no line of sight between your iPad/Laptop and the router/access Point. But as mentioned already 2.4Ghz often gets used by many other users. Therefore 5Ghz is there to avoid the interference.

In answer to ddff_lv’s 1st post:

Trouble connecting Editor: If you haven’t already, try disabling all other network adaptors apart from the one you’re trying to use to connect to your MixRack.

iPad on 5Ghz for both generations: Yes both iPad1 and iPad2 have 5Ghz capabilities.

Check which WiFi channel is free: It is possible to check which WiFi channel is free, check out; https://www.metageek.net/products/inssider/. This won’t pick up any interference, or show you if an AP isn’t sticking to its channel width very well, but it will give you some idea of what access points are around.

In answer to Lieven Dewispelaere 1st Post:

iPad Switching between 2.4 and 5Ghz: On the iPad if you select the WiFi network you don’t want your iPad to switch to, and press’ Forget this Network’ that should stop your iPad from connecting to that network. Or there is a switch that says ‘ask to join networks’, which is also worth a try.

I think Joe90 had some good comments about router/access point positioning. Certainly up high is often best, and getting line of sight can really help.

I hope this answers any outstanding questions, please let me know if I need to explain in any further detail or have missed any questions.

    Hi ahlund,

The startup scene is only there for the surface. When using our iPad App (MixPad), iPhone/iPod Touch App (Tweak) or iLive Editor, the startup scene doesn’t get used at login. The login is only there to ensure your mixer is password protected.

This is because one of the main reasons for having startup scenes on the surface is where multiple users with varying levels of experience may be using a console, but the venue/owners may wish for some channels to be hidden on the surface (say output mains, for people to be unable to see/adjust the output GEQ or limiter). Therefore when the user logs in at the surface, in this particular startup scene scenario, only the surface strip layout changes, hiding or showing the channels required.

As Editor, MixPad and Tweak always give access to all of the channels; we decided not to include start up scenes in Editor, MixPad and Tweak.

We also felt that when the user connects Editor, MixPad or Tweak that these should in no way affect what is happening at the surface. We wanted to make sure that as Editors/Mixpads etc can come and go, the surface layout and mix rack settings didn’t suddenly get adjusted.

    Hope that helps,

    AndyH

    Hi guyharris,

Thanks for your post, I really enjoyed reading how iLive saved the day!

I read you had a little issue trying to get some of the signals out of the main centre output, so I thought it’d try and explain just some of the LR output configurations we have to offer in iLive:

LR – Mono and stereo channels go out of both L and R outputs. (Sorry, I’m sure we all know this one! But I wanted to start simple).

LR Sub – Same as LR above, but an additional Sub level. If a channel becomes un-assigned to LR, it’ll stop feeding the sub too.

LR Mono – Same as LR above, but an additional Mono level. If a channel becomes un-assigned to LR, the Mono output will continue to output.

LCR – Mono inputs start in the center, and can be panned left or right. Stereo inputs only output out of L and R. (You were right when you said ‘true LCR’).

LCRplus – Mono inputs start outputting left and right, and so do stereo channels. Leaving centre empty, but a ‘blend’ control is available for every channel, so you can send either mono or stereo channels into both the centre and LR at the same time, or completely into the centre.

(please note – these are just some of the configurations we have in iLive, we have others such as Mono, LCR Sub, LCR Mono and Radio LRM).

Each of these outputs has a delay of up to 340ms.
You asked about having two sets of LR with separate delays for both. This is possible through our Speaker Matrix, but not through the Mixer Configurations above.

So in V1.8 firmware and above we have added a Speaker Matrix. This Speaker Matrix gives you the ability to have different sets of LR, all with different delay settings and a crossover for each. To find the speaker matrix, simply press the ‘FX’ button on the surface. Select an FX Rack (1 to 8), and choose Speaker Matrix from the Library list. You can even run more than one Speaker Matrix if you like.

Or you could use stereo matrices (with their own delay control) fed from LR. Just depends if you only want a second speaker stack of LR or a second stack of LCR (or even more speakers).

These can be easily configured, without having to change your mix configuration. Plus the settings can even be stored in scenes for easy and quick recall.

I know at the time you used Aux’s, which I’m glad all worked out well. But I thought I’d try and share some more information as to how much more the iLive can do!

Thanks again, and I hope this information is helpful.

    Hi ddff_lv,

It sounds like your multicast problem and the error messages you are getting might be related. They both suggest that your IP address settings maybe wrong.

First please ensure you have no other devices connected to the network.
Then open up the Network Setup Page (You’ll find this under Utility -> Network).
Please ensure that your settings are the same as below:
    Touch Screen IP: 192.168.1.3
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
    Gateway: 192.168.1.254
    DNS: 0.0.0.0
    Domain: [null]
    Update Network Settings: Ticked.

    Surface IP: 192.168.1.2
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
    Gateway: 192.168.1.254
    DNS: 0.0.0.0
    Domain: [null]
    Update Network Settings: Ticked.

    Mix Rack IP: 192.168.1.1
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
    Gateway: 192.168.1.254
    DNS: 0.0.0.0
    Domain: [null]
    Update Network Settings: Ticked.

The last numbers of the IP address can be varied, but only between 1 and 254. And please ensure they do not clash with any other static IP address devices on your network (if you have a wireless router or access point then this will normally have its own static IP address).

    Hope that helps,

    AndyH

    Hi All,

It’s a shame to hear the D-Link-825 is not working well with Multicast, unfortunately this is not one of the models we have tested so we can’t guarantee how well it will perform.

For a full list of all routers/access points we have tested please see:
    https://www.allen-heath.com/UK/CategoryDocuments/iLive_Router_Compatibility_Version_1.pdf

We do know that the D-Link-815 does work correctly with iLive, as well as other routers listed in the document linked above. Christopher mentioned the TP-Link (TL-WR1043ND), which we have also had good results from.

For the D-Link-815, we found a few settings needed to be changed to get the best performance:

    Firmware Version we tested: 1.00
    IP Address: 192.168.1.254
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
    DHCP: Enabled
    DHCP Scope: 192.168.1.100-200
    Security: WPA or MAC Filtering
Enable Multicast Streams by logging into the router setup page, selecting the advanced tab, select the advanced network menu, and tick ‘enable multicast streams’ and ‘wireless enhance mode’.

These settings may also apply to other D-Link routers, but unfortunately we cannot be sure unless it’s stated in our tested router chart above.

And for the mix rack, if you wish to enable multicast we recommend users leave their multicast Group IP Address as default (239.0.1.1). And Lieven is correct, if you connect several mix racks on the same network, we also recommend them having unique multicast Group IP Addresses (239.0.1.X).

For any further information on multicast, please go to either the iLive or Editor help menu; select ‘Setting up the Network’ then ‘Multicast Setup’ for a more in-depth look at the benefits of multicast.

To answer Christophers question; yes we are still investigating more business/enterprises level access points for our customers wishing to use several Laptop/iPads/iPhones in larger environments. Once we have something we recommend, it will be added to the table of routers/access points linked above.

    I hope this information helps,

Nope, there’s no issue if you created the scene in any 1.8 version or any 1.7 version.

    Hi dburris,

Yes, you will need to re-save individual scenes and the show.

    To get better recall times on old scenes you will need to;
    1. Recall the scene, to load the settings.
    2. Then re-save the scene. And do this for every old scene you wish to update.

    Then re-save your show.

For more information, I’ve copied and pasted the 1.8 Release Notes:

‘Note 3: V1.7 onwards fixed an error with the Gate and Comp Sidechain settings. It auto updates
the settings in old Scenes when they are recalled which can increase recall time. To restore normal
recall time please use V1.8 to recall then resave the Scenes in the old Shows (V1.6 and earlier) you
wish to use. Re-archive the Shows when this is done.’

    Hope that helps,

    AndyH

    Hi,

In v1.7 we noticed there was a slight error in the gate and compressor side chain filter settings. We correct this ‘on the fly’ so every time you recall an old scene, it’ll take a little longer to process. So if you are running v1.72 or v1.8 we recommend users recall each scene, and re-save their scene. This will result in quicker scene recalls. For more information on this issue please see the 1.8 iLive Release Notes.

If you are still experiencing the problem after this, then I think we need to examine your show file to see what is causing your issue. It’s easier for us if you contact our Technical Support team with your show, as sending and receiving files on the forum is rather difficult.

    I hope that helps,

    AndyH

    Hi Wouter,

I haven’t experienced this issue myself, but I would like to dig a little deeper to find out what’s going on.

We need your show file, log files, and which change you made to the mixer configuration. It’s probably best to do this via Technical Support as sending show files and log files can’t easily be done on the forum.

You can contact Support by going to: https://allen-heath.helpserve.com

Then we can investigate your issue further,

    Hope that helps,

    Andy H
