The good news is my R16 Firewire via Texas PC card chip has always been extremely reliable with my Lenovo laptop.
Bad news is the Lenovo isn’t doing so well now and I need to replace.
My options are find a similar aged Lenovo Thinkpad with a PC Card slot and it’s a straightforward swap over in theory.
However, I’ve not kept up with any ability to change the firewire interface and keep all functionality which would let me buy a newer and probably faster laptop.
Is there a way to interface with a windows laptop, via a more modern interface than Firewire??
As I say it’s always worked and why fix what’s not broken but the laptop is and so looking for options.
All help appreciated!
The two options I would use its Rme digiface usb, via adat, used for 350 euro, small and fast, but not all channels, only 16.
Motu lp 32. any adat interface with 16 channels will work.
Take a mini pc with pcie slot and add a firewire card.
Firewire is the only option to get all channels out, including the mix.
I only record the mix with the computer, master it on the computer.
